Fresh off the release of his own 'Repertoire' EP and label showcases in Berlin and Brooklyn, label boss Beartrax now prepares the twelfth Melodize vinyl, this time handing a debut to Manuel Ortúzar aka Aural Trace, who delivers the neon-drenched ’Midnight Thoughts’ EP.

As one half of Random Atlas, the young producer can be found exploring the boundaries of New Wave and Post Punk. Flying solo as Aural Trace however, the Chilean embarks on more synthesized Italo dreams.

The EP kicks off with 'Soft Lips.' A non-stop, full-speed drive through the radiant passages of outer space loaded with fast synth arpeggios, epic strings and aggressive linn beats, the track is underpinned by a mean bass line and a glossy layer of refinement that will keep those lips super supple.

“Midnight Thoughts” is characterised by lush retro pads, raw 707 drums, and longing gentle melodies that form to create a romantic midnight Italo delirium, whilst “Resolution” is a romantic ode to an unforgettable time where introspective dx feelings meet tense, detuned synth pads, agitated large gated drums, and a huge, rounded bass.

Completing the package with a wonderfully compelling rework of ’Soft Lips’ is Melodize favorite Chinaski, who ramps up the tempo whilst staying true to the blazing vibe of the original.

Far from Sweely's original minimal-acid-house signature, I have worked on some italo-trance-rave hybrid, and, as you may have noticed, subtlety has never been my forte.
I've been influenced a lot by the great Kendal (among others), but also early Trance from the 90's which has been my 'guilty pleasure' lately. See for yourself!

Très loin de l'aspect minimal acid house de l'original, j'ai opté pour un hybride italo-trance-rave (appelez cette chimère comme vous le voulez) et comme vous l'aurez remarqué, je ne fais pas dans la dentelle ou la subtilité. 
Quant à mes influences, on peut citer le génial @kendal3000 (entre autres) ou encore la trance des années 'nonante' qui est dernièrement mon guilty pleasure. Jugez par vous même.

Belgium via France, Emilio van Rijsel delivers four atmospheric Italo Disco gems with a hot analog remix from Claptrap boss Vanity Project for his forthcoming release on the British label XXX, managed by REES. Resident DJ at Welcome To My Flat, Emilio has always been keen on electronic music since he was a little kid thanks to his dad's collection of New Wave and 80's Electronica, besides being fascinated by Soul and Funk Music on his mother's side. It was only a matter of time until Emilio grew fond of House Music. 

As he joined the Welcome To My Flat Collective in 2013 to help out in its development, he started playing and mixing at smaller events and parties. Through the years, as he improved and the collective grew, he has played in several venues such as Magazine Club, Gare Saint Sauveur, B-Floor, Aeronef, Les Halles de la Filature etc. and was booked to play in some major events such as N.A.M.E Festival, Les Nuits de la Filature, Soundlux, Lille3000, and Run Deep Festival. Now he makes his debut as a producer with inspirations from all the genres House Music has to offer.

The track we chose to premiere, “Warme Wafels”, brings Italo Disco at its best. The characteristic elements of the beloved genre – the throbbing bassline, the arpeggiated synth layers, the upbeat percussion – are there. The only thing missing is the cheese: No catchy pop lyrics to make us sing along like if there was no tomorrow was added. But maybe it is for the best: Emilio's hot waffles would not pair well with the dairy delicacy, in our humble opinion.

Moustache Records welcomes Senor Chugger to the label family! His debut EP 'One More Tune & One More Pint' (yes come on let's have it!!) aims to encompass the euphoric feeling of being on a dance floor with nothing but your mates and some good music (and pints). Honestly I'd be happy if that's what's awaiting me in the afterlife. 'Press the Flesh' is the head of our proverbial euphoric snake, making no promises other than you'll have a bloody good time listening to it. 'Midnight Scooter Cruise' is about those last few moments before the lights come on; feeling genuinely happy to have been able to live in the present for more than a few seconds throughout the night and have a laugh - followed by thoughts such as 'Goodness me I'm going to feel horrific tomorrow'. Flipping over to the B side (or the snake's ass, if you will), we have 2 tracks competing for the loudest snare award. 'Head in the Clouds of Smoke' is a nod towards the great times had in the peak of the midday sun at festivals, where otherwise non-smokers inexplicably decide to chuff their way through a 20 pack. Last, but by no means least, 'Newton Abbot Reunion' is about going back home to see old friends - one of the more wholesome hangovers I'm sure you can relate to. Overall this EP wants you to keep on dancing - there will always be one more tune, and one more pint (unless you've had too many in which case don't do that). 'Very very good EP. Aural trace is the solo project of Berlin-based Chilean musician and producer Manuel Ortuzar, half of @RandomAtlas duo and co-founder of the record label @odd-pleasures.
