We feel tense and search for hope in everything we read, see, hear. Feeling so many emotions all at once… ‘International Waters’ captures this intensity perfectly.

A year in the making, comprising deep, emotional, heavy and sexy dark wave sounds from exciting artists from every corner of the world, the seeds for Ombra International’s largest project so far were sown long before the pandemic. But Ombra bossman Curses – like most of us – could sense something coming. For now, it’s biological. But the political and ecological landscapes have been just as tense and volatile. Hence the album’s release on May 1st – a universally recognised day for independence and revolution. 

We have no idea what the future of this new normal will be. But we know what we’ll be listening to; the sound Curses and many others have been championing in recent years is real, it’s honest, it’s raw, it unites people from all musical fields and camps, it comes with a natural high, it’s ‘International Waters’; an album ranging from the psychedelic rolling technoid stomps of Adame Princess to smouldering shoegazing cosmosis of Dame Bonnet and so many talented individuals in between… Mufti, Roe Deers, Montessori, Alejandro Paz & Local Suicide and many more. It also comes with a personal handwritten message from the label curator and founder Curses himself…

As soon as we realized just how serious the COVID19 situation was, all of us here at AEON Towers felt strongly that we must try to do something to help.

The virus had put an end to all live events so putting on an AEON party for charity wasn’t an option. With that in mind we felt we should do something around the label. It was also important to us to involve our AEON family too which is why the obvious answer was to open up some of our catalogue by way of a remix competition, with the winning remixes being released and all the profit being donated to the WHO COVID19 Response Fund.

We were mind blown and humbled by, not only the number of remixes that were submitted, but also the high quality of the music. It made choosing the best ones a very difficult task. We think we chose the best ones though, and we will release the results on July 3rd via Bandcamp only.
To those of you who can afford it, please dig deep and help us raise some money for a very good cause!

The title track gets the engine running. Buckle up and prepare for a sweltering ride as the Shanghai-based French duo follow up their past successes on La Dame Noir with four moody, heavy missions. It’s hot, it’s sweaty, it’s loaded it’s with big sweeping guitar blasts… It’s the sound of two men in full control of their machines. And it’s backed by three more dark disco treats…

‘Three On The Floor’ raises its third leg and slams it on the table in two very distinct ways: the original slugs into hypnotic existence, layer by trippy percussive layer, while Sascha Funke ups the tempo with his creepier, more technoid flavoured twist.

Finally we arrive at our destination; the epic waves of ‘It Is All Over’. At first it shimmers like a mirage, then slowly the ground opens out beneath and it sucks you up like a sinkhole. You think it’s all over?

Amsterdam’s Sinchi Music returns with its 10th release, this time from German duo Le Jeune Flück and featuring remixes from Moscoman, Theus Mago and themselves.

Sinchi Music launched their label back in early 2019 off the back of their popular blog, events and DJ sets. The imprint’s mission has been to release quality left of centre electronic music, with all funds going to a non-profit foundation to support indigenous peoples’ right and preservation of culture. To date the label has seen music from
the likes of Sascha Funke, Khidja, Man Power, Curses, Tolouse, Low Trax and many more and has gained a solid following, whilst doing some genuine good for the world.

Frankfurt based pair Le Jeune Flück are the latest to join the ranks of Sinchi’s artists. The duo have been collaborating together since 2013 and have recent release on Dionysian Mysteries and clipp.art. Here they offer
up the superb ‘Unexpected Ends’, a rolling arpeggiated affair that comes on like the love child of Giorgio Moroder and Underworld. Incandescent synths and ethereal drifting melodies provide the perfect soundbed for the distinct half sung / half spoken vocals creating a track that is hard not to love.

The first of the remixes comes from Israeli producer, Disco Halal label boss and general don, Moscoman. His remix journeys into glitchier electro territory with a real sense of wonkiness and some seriously driving
percussion. Next up, Sinchi deliver their own mix that taps into the otherworldly with its cavernous FX, and off kilter electronic vibe. Finally Mexican artist and Duro co-founder Theus Mago takes things into a chuggier realm with a cosmic mid-tempo workout that is divine, a perfect closer to an outstanding package.
