Black Light Smoke returns to his Death Decay Magic imprint alongside Léah Lazonick for ‘Work’, backed by remixes from Happy707 and Dina Summer.
A Chicago native now based in New York, Jordan Lieb, aka Black Light Smoke, is an artist who wears many stripes within the realms electronic music. A DJ, producer, songwriter and composer, the diverse talent has also added the title of label boss to his resumé in recent years having founded his imprint, Death Decay Magic. Launched in 2020, releasing material spanning techno, EBM, electro and beyond, the label has welcomed releases and remixes from artists such as Cardopusher, The Hacker and MAN 2.0, to name just a few. Returning for his second EP on the label, mid-June sees Lieb partner alongside Brooklyn-based vocalist and producer Léah Lazonick for ‘Work’, accompanied by remixes from Argentinian duo Happy707 and trio Dina Summer - a collective made up of Kalipo and Local Suicide. Maximum Flavour - the new project spearheaded by Matt FX and Giorgio Beatsaface - serves a dose of cheeky nostalgia with ‘Chef’s Kiss’, their debut original offering via Disco Halal. It’s a track that transports dancefloors back to the 80s, back to that classic New York dance music era where queer self-expression and the infamous Paradise Garage sound reigned supreme. With its glistening synths, rolling drums, and trademark jock-jam vocal drop, Maximum Flavour present a stadium-sized interpretation on the Hi-NRG sub-genre, mixing past and future to create a sense of unbridled joy.
On the flip side, label head Moscoman gives his trademark touch, adding an array of drums that up the pace of the track, making it perfect for those peak time moments. Like legendary productions duos before them, Maximum Flavour makes larger than life music for big room play. ‘Chef’s Kiss,' with its unique reference points, is a head-turning opening statement and one that carves its own lane. This is just the beginning of what looks to be quite the explosive journey for this exciting twosome.

The nomadic life was all they knew, for as long as they could remember they'd moved from place to place, with one eye constantly looking over their shoulder. In this day and age it was impossible to remain undercover; to don a new identity and pitch up somewhere for an extended period of time. No matter where they went, what buses, trains or planes they boarded, eventually they'd be tracked down and there was no knowing what would happen then...

After welcoming PCL to Slow Motion's Wrong Era off shoot back in June, label boss Fabrizio Mammarella makes his return to the parent imprint arm-in-arm with Italian retro-futurist producer Bottin for a brand new project: EYE-BM. The pair were jamming at CIMM studios when the release came to be; it's a melting pot of their combined musical passions. Backed by a remix from Italian synth wave icon Alexander Robotnick, the EP features three original tracks to get your body moving, which blend EBM, electro, Italo disco, cyberpunk and new beat.

On hand with the right solutions… Tech Support returns after a string of releases for Nocturne, Futureboogie & Silver Bear last year, making his debut on Ano Ano with a sublime serenade of subtle-but-shining gems, perfect for those warm-ups, wind-downs or 3am wig-outs.

One of his most comprehensive, accomplished and considered EPs to date, ‘Feelings Electric’ continues to refine and hone the London-based artist’s love for that timeless, well-oiled dark synth funk. The title track is a perfect example of his fusion as the beat pulsates with Weatheralian intent the lead line whispers sweet indie chugs into our ears.

Next we’re joined by Mexican DJ and artist Vongold who purrs sultry spoken word over a stalking mid-tempo creeper that’s powered by dubby echoes but crystalised by its sweeping chords. ‘Roaming Acid’ follows, completing the tryst of originals. A wandering 303 minstrel, wistfully zoning into the slo-mo sunset with a free spirit and a spring its step, it’s music for dreamers just as much as it is for dancers… And sets us up perfectly for the remix finale courtesy of Shubostar who ups the chug for more of a peak time affair.

Mexican singer, DJ, and producer Vongold debuts on Roam Recordings with her new single Pleasure Cinema. Vongold's rising star shines in this original offering with her voice tastefully interwoven in this beautifully dark production. Fists clenched, brow furrowed, he bit his bottom lip to stop him shouting the myriad of profanities the swirled around his head. Everyone that knew him well would describe him as having a calm temperament; a level-headed individual who approached situations with composure and coolness, but this time his patience was tested like never before. He felt as if his head were about to explode; if he were in a cartoon smoke would be firing out of his ears and the shrill whistle of a kettle boiling would resound around the place. Steadying his breath he brought himself back down to solid ground, he hoped that would be the first and the last time his calm exterior would be shattered.

In the world of psychedelic, punk-tinged electronic music, Duro Records boss Theus Mago and Ombra International founder Curses are prolific producers in their own right, so when the pair come together you know that sparks are guaranteed to fly. Linking up at the beginning of the pandemic, the duo set out to create a collection of music that would transport them back to the recently closed clubs. Fusing elements of new beat, punk, dub and dark club music, 'Antídoto', which finds a home on Optimo Music Recordings, is packed with fuel to ignite the dance floor.

The Mexican duo is all about low-tempo, dark disco and anxious lyrics, mixing guitars, synthesizers, and voodoo rhythms. Together they create a psychedelic journey into haunted vocals, hypnotic percussion landscapes, oriental dreams, with an avant-garde rock flavor.
