Since 2017, Minjoon has been fascinated by the joining of his painting awareness and primitive techno. His theme is to find an 
ambiguous balance based on the extreme paradoxes of "Unfamiliar familiar". Ambiguous colors are not a visual sense, but appeal to another sense of energy.

Minjoon is also currently working as a designer/artist at Artscope. After his first debut EP in 2021, he has been continuously searching for the sound he has.

03. Minjoon - Aspergillus (Original Mix)

Call and response, ebb and flow. This concept of Chiaroscuro or strong, bold, contrasts between shadow and brightness. The affect can, and does... define so many releases. How common, is a theme that we can all identify but may not name immediately. For what it’s worth, it does make wonderful moments. And so we arrive here, with Minjoon, and in turn what Initiate Records are using as an idea and artistic focus all the better, as they play with the notion of musical freedom and let their friends and artists they trust, define themselves under an idea rather than defined sound.

Minjoon’s contribution to this series will be released on the 14th of June. We’ll be watching, and listening closely, and beyond.

폭넓은 테크노 사운드를 추구하는 전자음악 레이블 OverCurrent의 컴필레이션 시리즈 Night Figures의 두 번째 앨범은 7명의 개성 있는 로컬 DJ/프로듀서들이 참여한 독창적인 테크노 스타일을 선보인다. 

‘Night Figures’라는 이름은 밤의 음악적 형상을 상상하며, 어두운 조명 아래에서 춤추는 사람들의 형상을 상상하게 한다. 
이 앨범은 서울의 클럽씬에서 이어지고 있는 음악적 풍경의 일부로 문화적 표현이자 언더그라운드 씬의 동향을 제시하고 있다. 

The second album in Night Figures, the compilation series from OverCurrent—a record label pursuing a broad spectrum of techno sounds—showcases the unique techno styles of seven distinctive local DJs/producers.
The name Night Figures evokes the musical shape of the night, conjuring images of dancers moving under dim lights. As part of the evolving musical landscape of Seoul’s club scene, this album serves as both a cultural expression and a reflection of the underground movement.

When a nameless tremor
lasts for too long

Minjoon mixset #.10

Since 2017, Minjoon has been fascinated by the joining of his painting    awareness and primitive techno. His theme is to find an ambiguous balance based on the extreme paradoxes of "Unfamiliar familiar". Ambiguous colors appeal not to the visual sense but to another sense of energy.

 He has been playing in various techno clubs in Korea including vurt., Volnost, Silence, atdge and a two-year residency at Beton Brut. He currently runs the Artscope podcast and is a member of OverCurrent since 2024.

 After releasing his debut EP 'Kleśa' on Virescence Records in 2021, his second EP 'Weird rally' on MANKINART showcased his more developed shamanistic musical world. In addition to participating in compilations from BAHN, Artscope, and Kvlto Records, his recent works on OverCurrent are also actively being released.

 He is constantly exploring the sounds he possesses.
