There was one person who immediately came to mind when this series came to live, Mark Knekelhuis. So you might understand how happy we are, that when we asked him, he straight away said yes. Mark recently announced that he will quit his DJ-ing, but luckily will keep on sharing his musical vision through his Label 'Knekelhuis', and now for us as well. 
We asked him to open a bottle of Iago's Marina, a rosé from the central Georgian region of Kartli. The wine is made from Chinuri and Tavkveri by the Iago's wive Marina. When we asked him about the wine, this is what Mark had to say.

"With pleasure I drank this full bottle of Marina by Iago. 
The color is some sort of autumnal dark amber, and the first smell reminded me to the smell of morning dew from autumn leaves, after a rainy day. My first taste seemed a bit plummy, slowly evolving into kind of nutty cognac hints and dark chocolate. It reminds me of the woods, temperature changes and a fireplace. The wine feels elegant to me, but also astringent in a good way. I like that contrast.
That was my starting point to go into the deep and contrast. By tracks that evoke some kind of cold and grounded association. While being just as much heart-warming and full of melancholy.
Last year I visited for the first time Tblissi - to play for Mutant Radio (check them out) and Bassiani. I remember I was so impressed by the people, the colors, the architecture and vibrant atmosphere. A country that has been the intersection of many shifting cultures. The Byzantine, Persian & Ottoman empires left their traces, as well the Arabs & Russia. 
And I learned Georgia is the birthplace of wine, and that they still use the tradional way of making wine. By putting the wine in clay pots that get buried in the ground for fermentation.  
I experienced this wine as complex, with many layers, and I love to believe that I taste a bit of Georgia’s complexity. 
I also discovered crazy good music from Georgia (check CES Records) at Vodcast record store. This mix contains a handful of those tracks. Plus, a favorite from Daan and a bit of Knekelhuis of course."

RexL) to COLA REN’s dreamy seabed roll, the filmic nostalgia of eoin DJ’s Things In Life, and the more danceable sound of E-Talking’s Être un autre ohm, each track is a love letter to every corner of the Aquarium’s deep blue.

The selection is curated by the team behind Fandango, and will be donating all profits to the marine conservation charity Blue Ventures. The charity was chosen to contribute back to marine life without which sounds and swells of aquatic bass could not exist. Blue Ventures works with small-scale local cultures and economies to support their natural ecosystems, ensuring a fair distribution of resources.
