Intrigue Music return for their yearly compilation of groundbreaking drum & bass. This year the Bristol clubbing institution celebrates 18 years, and while there can't be a party to celebrate they deliver one of their best albums yet.

The label's now famous yearly compilations have become a shining example of the deeper drum & bass sound. The latest edition continues to push the sound forward, this year paying particular attention to new talent.

The second chapter includes tracks and remixes from Collette Warren, Ben Soundscape, Cybin, Lurch, Joakuim, SoulMotion, Joakuim and more. Track one on the release 'Cold Black Soul' recently attracted major daytime radio support from Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC 6 Music.

Goldfat Records Present ‘Full Fat’ Volume 1

For our 25th release we’ve decide to celebrate with our very first album. 13 cuts deep, from #Fatfam artists old and new and packed with flavour this is no semi-skimmed affair.

Opening the album is our debut release from IYRE. ‘Fragments’ bubbles up from the ether into some gorgeous, raspy, contorting, liquid soul that sets the stage with an aura of mystique. Sounds like alchemy.

Another debut, this time it’s Note with ‘This Work’. Dreamy pads and vocal snips lead us in and envelope us in sound like a warm blanket before dropping into funky basslines and super tight shuffing beats. Pitched up vocals with a UKG feel add to the comfy nostalgia.

Back on the Fat again, It’s pyxis with ‘Orbs’. Warping pads, emotional vocal cuts and upright drums lull us into calm before a chunky bassline licks us sideways. Pyxis brings her trademark style of darkness and light in equal measure with a dusting of magic.

Geeks brings us an eerie, twisted vibe with ‘Reluctance’. Rolling drums, bumping 808s, a tear out reese, energising break chops, haunting sci-fi synths and a dash of suspense really set this one off. Spooky!

On ‘Altruist’ Auris shows us a whole different side to his previous jazzy excursions. This track opens with dreamy ambient vocal samples and the suggestion of looming menace before it lets rip with some red hot molten beats and bass. Auris ramps up the distortion on his mids before letting his bass drop to blistering effect.

Athena debuts with ‘Next Door Reality’ and shows us why she was one of the EQ50 Mentorship winners this year. Beginning like a sequence from a sci-fi movie before the unleashing of dirty bass and half time drums. Full of space and drama with flourishes of amen this one is impeccable.

Easy goes straight for the sweet spot with ‘Push’. Amens, filtered pads, pianos, vocal chops and subs; all the perfect ingredients for some feel good, Jungle inspired vibes. Vibrant and energising like a crisp sunny morning.

Telomic delivers some proper snappy liquid goodness with ‘By My Side’. Smooth as butter drums and bass with some gorgeous filtered pads get your body moving and some catchy vocal samples seal the deal. Pure class.

Digital Native debuts with ‘Soon I Promise’. Filtered pianos immediately command our attention and we know something beautiful is about to happen. His use of piano, breaks and bass takes us back to the classic mid 90’s era but with a slightly more contemporary mix, feel and arrangement. Bliss!

On ‘Chancu’ Shiva goes straight in with double bass plucks before introducing his funky percussion. Bongos and maracas instantly transport us to a warmer climate. Shiva takes us on his journey as he introduces his instruments in then out like players in a jazz band. Soulful with an air of melancholy.

Kublai and Note collaborate to give us ‘All The Things’. Crispy drums, filtered piano chops, pulsating bass notes, bongos and super catchy vocal snippets. This is finesse manifested.

Artsea comes through like a breath of fresh air with ‘Discovery’. Rolling drums, smooth subs and a touch of atmospherics keep everything spacious. Like sitting on a bed of clouds.

Closing the album is ‘Losing Direction’ from Winslow featuring Mr Porter. Winslow brings his trademark funk, his viola and even sings the hook: all showing us why he’s peeked so much attention over the last year. Mr Porter drops in to deliver some bars about philosophy, life and love and its a wrap.

Returning to V Recordings for his first solo release since his 'Flames' LP on 31, Need For Mirrors delivers another amazing body of work, the 'Diplo' EP. 

A four tracks body of work that push sub-genre boundaries and pull influence from wide and far. Spacey, rolling atmospheres that are typical to Need For Mirrors spread throughout, with all tracks capable of holding a listeners home attention as well as shaking the floors of a club.

Undeniably one of the hardest working human beings in music right now, Ruth Royall’s name is one that you simply must be familiar with. Since her debut release ‘Real Hearts’ with Chris Munky back in 2017, the Bristol-based musician has been blessing beats with her signature soulful sound and jazz-infused melodies. Her influences stem from far and wide, including Jungle, Snarky Puppy, The Nextmen and D’Angelo to name a few. ‘Running In The Dark’ saw her collaborate with Soulvent co-founders Pola & Bryson on their 2019 ‘Pacific’ EP, and the songstress has since continued to pump out high-quality music across a whole host of genres and labels. From Hospital to Viper, Shogun to Soulvent, Rampage to MURKT and more. We are incredibly excited to host her first 4-track foray on the label, and trust us, it was certainly worth the wait! 

Opener ‘New Love’ sees Ruth link up with the Japanese mastermind producer behind ‘Spread Love (feat. Pete Simpson)’ & the ‘Tomodachi Sessions’ LP: the ever-present & well-respected Makoto. The track opens with warming rhodes and smooth, calming pads - all the while our Bristollian’s rousing, relatable lyrics & rich harmonies weave through the dense aural layers present. The result is an uplifting marvel; a heady love song full of butterflies and a smitten teenage optimism.

Next up, our protagonist partners with Goldfat founder, Hospital affiliate and seasoned producer Mitekiss. Continuing to build on their fruitful musical partnership, ‘Ricochets’ is a sultry, sophisticated breakbeat number complete with tight drums, fluid bass and emotive strings. The call and response vocal elements present in the chorus build a comforting, hypnotic atmosphere while the raw tone and measured delivery of the verses display a firm knowledge of dynamics and timbre. 

The penultimate track on the EP is a slightly further afield link-up, as our good friends & Las Vegas locals Blacklab deliver the goods on ‘Mind Over Matter’. The punchy drums and Break-inspired, wobbly bass on the drop offer a satisfying, contrasting, down-right-screw-face-inducing moment in this iridescent, vocal-laden extended player.  

Finally, we’re treated to an acoustic reprise of ‘Ricochets’ that is more akin to the initial demo version which birthed the song. This stripped-back iteration provides the listener with a raw representation of the undeniably catchy songwriting and skillful production that permeate this 4-track wonder.

MINOS, a Producer and DJ based in Heidelberg, Germany
startet his passion for Music at a young Age with spinning Vinyls for Clubseries in Germany like Royal Rumble , Feelings and more 
Then Minos started producing in 2013 Jump Up / Drum and Bass but switched producing Different Gernes of Drum and Bass in 2018.
He landed his first EP on the renowned Fokuz Recordings in January of 2019. Since then going on to release on Integral,  Celsisus and his own imprint Relik Recordings, started in 2021.
In the short time Minos has been producing Liquid Drum and Bass he has picked up support from major players such as Rene la Vice, Hybrid Minds, Etherwood , Fabio & Grooverider, Ltj Bukem , Maduk and many more.
