If you’re even a passing fan of electronic music, it’s likely that you know that one of its icons, DJ and producer Frankie Knuckles, died earlier this week at the age of 59 from complications related to type 2 diabetes. The “godfather of house music” was a true legend, the kind of artist to whom one could point as a real cultural lynchpin; without his influence, dance music in 2014 would likely be an entirely different beast. Having given birth to house music in Chicago in the late ’70s and early ’80s via his clubs the Warehouse and later the Power Plant, Knuckles (born Francis Nicholls in New York City) was a dedicated craftsman and inventor, honing his skills as a DJ by playing marathon sets to open-minded audiences and helping to make the remix its own art form by constructing extended versions of classic soul and disco tunes with a pair of reel-to-reel tape decks and a 909.

He also mixed tracks for some of music’s most renowned acts, including Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode and Whitney Houston.

Rest in Peace Frankie. Your Legacy will live on!

After watching the 24 Part Kill la Kill series I had to try my hand at remixing this into a trance version. Kill la Kill is one of the best modern Anime's I have seen in a long time, and the score is amazing.

Kill la Kill - Before My Body Is Dry - (Minstra Work In Progress)

So a couple of days ago it was Sharla's Birthday. She happens to be  JVlogger (ShalainJapan) on YouTube that I watch on a regular basis. I promised her a remix of one of her vids for her birthday. Shara and her friend Mira (Kanadajin3) have a series of videos called "Crazy Japanese snack time" where they try out some Japanese snacks most people outside of Japan have never seen before. 

I took some audio from my favorite Japanese snack time video where they happen to try out some Natto flavored umaibo, and remixed the video into this crazy track.  

Sharla and Mira two are among some of the funniest and informative YouTubers about Japan out there. If your into Japan, Japanese culture, or just like to laugh out loud you should check out their YouTube Channels:

P.S. Nattō is a traditional Japanese food made from soybeans fermented with Bacillus subtilis, aka rotten soybeans. Its an acquired taste.
