🎶 Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Wanted To Stay 🎶

Genre & Style:
A melancholic dream pop × synthpop ballad that moves slowly at ~82 BPM, with the pulse of a memory you can’t shake. Built on soft electronic drums, airy synth pads, and echoing clean guitar, the song drifts in a spacious, futuristic haze. The vocals are delicate and close, almost whispered, carrying both intimacy and heartbreak. At times fragile and almost spoken, at times soaring with quiet intensity, the performance feels less like singing and more like opening up a wound. It’s a sound that mirrors the neon sadness of Edgerunners — futuristic but painfully human.

The lyrics unfold like a farewell between two people clinging to each other in a city that devours everything. The verses describe the endless fight — running faster than the heart can bear, carrying scars that only grow heavier. There’s the fragile hope of escape, of a dream somewhere beyond the smoke, but the city always drags them back down.

"Leaving the City" was originally recorded in 2011 and was meant to appear on the first album. Unfortunately, we weren't able to finish it to our satisfaction at this time and put it aside. This was seven years ago but it feels like yesterday.

We rediscovered the song lately and decided to complete it. We may consider putting it on the new album and we're happy to finally share the song with you.
