Half Eclipse symbolises the balance between the ordinary and the extraordinary. Just like the moon partially covers the sun during a solar eclipse, our daily routines can sometimes overshadow our passions and creativity. This album serves as a reminder that it's possible to find equilibrium between our responsibilities and our dreams.

Half Eclipse also suggests an incomplete or imperfect state. In an era where perfection is often overvalued, this album encouraged me to embrace imperfection as a source of beauty and authenticity. It's a celebration of the raw, unpolished aspects of music.

Let me take you through the journey behind the name and the 12 tracks that make up this album.

1. Forgive Me: This is where it all began. There is a movie named " The Legend of 1900". It is the story of a man who was born on a cruise ship. On that shiphe lived, and learned to play the piano. He was a talent, a true force of nature, but unfortunately, he never left that ship. This intro samples his monologue, at the end of the movie.

2. '900: Named after the movie mentioned above. I wanted to capture the feeling of sitting in a huge, empty cruise ship, crossing the Atlantic.

3. Piano Excerpt: A brief, melancholic moment on the keys, recorded during a late-night session when inspiration struck like lightning.

4. Cluster: The track that emerged from hours of experimenting with different synth patches and drum patterns. It's the chaos that led to clarity.

5. Freeze Me in a Photography: An ode to capturing memories in sound, a way to hold on to fleeting moments.

6. Infirmity: A reflection on the fragility of life, which we often forget in our daily hustle.

7. Mountain Wind: Inspired by a solo trip to the mountains. I was in the Maritime Alps, at the border between Italy and France. For a moment, I found myself thinking about the mountains in Nepal, and this is the result.

Now, here's the twist - I decided to invite some talented friends to put their own spin on my tracks. It's incredible how different artists can reinterpret the same melody:

8. '900 remixed by Martin Schulte: Martin added his unique touch, giving it a depth I couldn't have imagined.

9. Freeze Me in a Photography remixed by DIB: DIB took my memory and made it his own, a beautiful transformation.

10. Piano Excerpt remixed by Viktor Apostolski: Viktor played with the emotions, turning my late-night musings into something even more profound.

11. Forgive Me remixed by Reverb: Reverb put a haunting spin on my imaginary cruise ship. Not, it is cutting the Atlantic ocean at the speed of light.

12. Mountain Wind remixed by Morkebla and Sonambient: A collaboration that transformed my mountain memories into an epic journey.

So there you have it, Half Eclipse, my part-time passion project turned into 1 hour and 32 minutes of music. It's not just an album; it's a diary of my nights, weekends, and moments of creativity squeezed between the mundane of my day job.

Born while travelling between Boston and Lisbon, the "Boston / Ion" EP emerged as a testament to a period of my life characterised by conflicting emotions.

"Boston," the first track on the EP, is a sonic voyage into the heart of New England's enigmatic metropolis. It starts with a field recording that morphs into pad sounds while kick and bass drive the song, almost like you would drive a car through the old streets of Boston. An ever-changing ethereal synth intertwines in the background with screaming leads, creating a hypnotic atmosphere that keeps constant tension throughout the song. The haunting echoes and the distant hum of traffic weave seamlessly into the music, creating a reflective atmosphere that transports listeners from shadows to light.

As the streets of Boston provided the canvas for the EP's first half, it was in the vibrant, sun-kissed city of Lisbon that "Ion" found its voice. The light of Lisbon has a specific blue tone. You would attribute this light to cities in the Nordic countries. Some days, the sun glitters on the sea waves with a unique sparkling light. This contrasts sharply with the dense atmosphere you can experience at night near Carmo Convent. "Ion" explores the otherworldly ambience of Lisbon's streets as an embodiment of its paradoxical blend of lively energy and profound introspection. The track blends synthetic vocal sounds with bubbling synths to recreate the glitters of lights reflecting on the waves and the movement of the ocean. A steady bass sound carries the evolving atmosphere and pays homage to the established bass culture of the city, evoking a sense of wanderlust and adventure.

The "Boston / Ion" EP is a sonic journey that invites listeners to experience the interplay of light and dark, rain and sun, mystery and clarity. It encapsulates the reflective moments spent amidst the streets of Boston and the landscapes of Lisbon. It is a musical diary of my travels and the emotional resonance they left behind.

With its mysterious and reflective ambience, "Boston / Ion" promises to transport listeners to these two distinct worlds, each with unique allure, and invites them to immerse themselves in the beauty of contrast and transformation through electronic music.

Here is the "Ollie / Willie" EP, a dynamic two-track house music EP that draws inspiration from the skateboard community. As the "Ollie" is the most basic trick you learn on the skateboard, sampling is among the basic techniques defining house music vocabulary. Crafted with hardware synthesizers, samplers, and effects, the EP emanates a lo-fi, raw, and authentic feeling.

"Ollie" is a groove-laden piece born from the manipulation of a Rhodes piano loop. It was layered with other synth sounds to create the track's foundation. As the loop unfolds, additional elements join the mix—vocals, bass, and drums, all topped with a nice 303 line. The result? A deep, lo-fi, and groovy track.

"Willie" takes on a more energetic vibe. At its core is the sound of an OB-6, renowned for its lush tones but here delivering a gritty dub, '90s vibe that weaves effortlessly between the beats. Supporting this core are ethereal pads and piano lines, crafting an atmospheric backdrop that elevates the track's energy. The vocals, processed with filters, saturators, delay, and reverb, add an additional layer of mood and depth.

Both tracks showcase a meticulous blend of hardware sounds. Drums, courtesy of a Jomox 888 (a modern homage to the classic Roland 808 drum machine), are processed through outboard effect processors. The bass, from a Moog Minitaur, provides that classic round and full sound, while synth sounds come from a Nord Lead 2X and the OB-6. Fairfield Circuitry and Eventide effect pedals add the finishing touches, enriching the sonic palette. Finally, Elysia 500 modules take center stage on the mix and master bus, glueing the elements together.

Crafted with hardware synthesizers, samplers, and effects, the EP emanates a lo-fi, raw, and authentic feeling.

"Time" features a Rhodes loop and dreamy synth melodies. As the loop unfolds, additional elements join the mix: the bass plays with the drums, while a hypnotic 303 bass line counterpoints the synths. The result? It is a deep, lo-fi, and groovy track with an authentic feeling.

"Masks" uses the same instruments but moves to a more energetic vibe. At its core is the sound of the Rhodes, in a loop that builds the song's foundation. An OB-6 accompanies the loop with its lush tones, weaving effortlessly between the beats, while vocals and piano deliver the classic '90s house vibe. Also, a slightly tamed but gritty, pressing 303 line does its part in celebrating the vibe.

Playing as a DJ since 2003, in 2010 I started composing tracks ranging from ambient to techno while studying sound design. In recent years I approached different sounds like Dub Techno, Detroit, Funk and House, exploring different musical identities.
