To celebrate its landmark 20th release, Monnom Black invites you to enter The World of Monnom Black II – a return trip to techno's most uncompromising landscape. The triple vinyl release features 14 hand-picked contributions from the label’s trusted collaborators alongside cutting-edge artists new to the roster; making this compilation one of the label’s most varied and innovative collections yet.

On The World of Monnom Black II, new artists including VTSS, DIMI (AnD), Vladimir Dubyshkin, Hadone, Fractions, LDS, Aahan and Buried Secrets all throw down tracks which fuse tight machine rhythms with intricate detail. There's also a return for many established label favourites such as UVB, Dax J, Zanias and Thomas P. Heckmann as Knarz.

To round out the compilation there’s a re-release of the timeless 1998 cut, “Devious Methods,” from legendary artist Hive, and Tellurian’s hardcore classic, “Big Bad City,” gets a new mix from Dax J.

This release further confirms Monnom Black’s reputation for representing raw analogue music and cements the label’s place as the home of some of the roughest and classiest contemporary sounds in techno.

Barcelona arts collective HEX readies the final 2020 release from its HEX Recordings stable with Under Black Helmet's 'Lose Something To Gain Everything' EP landing mid-December. 

‘Lose Something to Gain Everything' sees Lithuanian producer Under Black Helmet turn in four tracks ranging from the haunting, beatless 'Running Barefoot' to the more familiar territory of acerbic industrialism on the title track. Regardless of the bpms utilised across the EP, each piece on 'Running Barefoot' is joined by an ethereal melodic motif employed variously to either colour the whole track or subtly employed to create tense contrasts. 

HEX founders Paolo Ferrara & Lorenzo Raganzini deliver a remix of 'Running Barefoot' that, during its six and a half minutes, flies through a dense, ever-evolving patchwork of brutalist techno that steadfastly refuses to stay in one place. 

Rounding off an excellent year of releases for HEX Recordings, 'Lose Something to Gain Everything' by Under Black Helmet is released Dec 15th.

@grindvik and @sylvie-maziarz join forces following the Swedish techno giant’s remix of Sylvie’s track ‘Increased’ in 2019. With an accomplished category of releases from Maziarz throughout the last two years, the rising Berlin artist and Berghain regular Grindvik unleash their thunderous 5 track collaboration with none other than the virtuous Second State.

The EP launches with menacing strains and flurried hi-hats in ‘Bullet Tower’. Similarly to the other tracks on the EP, this cut narrates a story using a particular element, in this case the clattering bells and shuddering bass brooding throughout to create urgency, soon intensified by distorted acid lines. Next up is title track ‘Before We Run’, led by a ferocious heaving kick-drum and a bubbling vocal that ripples over the hysteria. Synth notes swirl throughout and gradually overwhelm the rhythm, before it bolts through and drives forward once again.

The flip-side launches with ‘Utopia’. Driven by an unusual, wild percussion and drawn out foreboding synths, the duo commands focus with unbroken kicks against whirring beeps, tumultuous keys and jolting claps. Taking us on a trancey paradisiacal odyssey is ‘Circles’. Characterised by the subdued sample of a hospital monitor at the beginning and end, with ethereal drawn out pads that take us on a journey between earth and the other side.

The final track incorporates dense sonics to build to climax. Sharp synths rise and decline to drive you into a trance, while shattering kick and snare drums roll throughout, awarding ‘Light Storm’ its place as a definitive roller on this release.
