This is my Tribute to Ryūichi Sakamoto, whose music had a great impact on me for many decades.
Here I've tried to summarize the main elements of his musical aesthetic that is rooted in minimalism, classical and abstract ambient music. 
I hope you'll enjoy listening to it as much I have enjoyed the compositional process.
The Man has died, but his music and legacy will last forever !

Composition ispired by Steve Reich's historical piece from '72, titled  "Clapping".
Here it is a 2+0+1+3 rhythm (7 beats) underlined by a couple of different patterns and shifted by phase.
instruments used: spark shakers, water percussion, head spark shakers, cicala, finger shot, soft shake shaker, clapping.

Curved Patterns

La mostra di Marco Locci dal titolo programmatico “Come la vaga spuma bianca” viene inaugurata giovedì 23 maggio alle ore 19.00 negli spazi del Museo di preistoria di Firenze, con una introduzione di Fabio Martini, Direttore del Museo; una presentazione della curatrice, una performance fonetica teatrale di Alberto Sighele e Rosa Yurchenko che s’intreccia con la visita guidata alle opere; una postfazione poetica di Marisa Tumicelli, poetessa veronese che porta oltre le sue poesie anche quelle di Alda Merini sulle balene e di Don Marco Campedelli. La serata si conclude con un Drink conviviale accompagnato da brani di musica elettronica di Fabio Anile.

Dance Counterpoint

A personal reinterpretation of the most famous piece from
"Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks" written, produced, and performed by Brian Eno, his brother Roger and Daniel Lanois in 1983.

This piece was performed and recorded live on October 3th 2019 at the "Cimitero Evangelico Agli Allori" where  Oriana Fallaci was buried there alongside her family and close to Alexandros Panagoulis.

Sketches of piano #1

Ten years ago I discovered how nice is to take audio recordings while travelling.
I'm not talking about field recordings of nature or places with a specific sound.
I'm talking about something similar to a photo picture: I hear my friends' voices and it's like being back to that moment. And each voices reminds me more than its sounds.

This is a recording of a night in Santa Cruz at the very end of the Y2KX Loopfest, "soundtracked" with my music. 
Pure fun.

Y2KX-Fuzzy Memories

Harold Budd (May 24, 1936 – December 8, 2020) was an American avant-garde composer and poet. Born in Los Angeles and raised in the Mojave Desert, Budd became a respected composer in the minimalist and avant-garde scene of Southern California in the late 1960s, and later became better known for his work with figures such as Brian Eno. 

When I heard  "The Plateaux Of Mirrors" (1980) for the first time, I immediately fell in love with the musical aesthetics of Harold Budd. 
From then on, Budd's music had a strong influence in my life and it has been a real enrichment not only as a musician, but also as human being from a spiritual point of view.

Budd developed what he called a "soft pedal" technique for playing piano which I've tried to emulate in this piece.

Technically, the piece was built superimposing two loops of different lengths.

Late February (tribute To Harold Budd)

Fabio Anile uses a piano and a foot-controlled laptop to record layer upon layer intricate and mesmerizing music. 

Born in Sicily (IT) and classically trained from the age of eight, Fabio has developed an early interest in the electronic music and in the new technologies, developing  over the years a personal approach in combining  electronic tools and live playing.

His pattern based music can be defined as a "a work on time". On this line, ther's a continuum between his previous ambient music works (Liquid Day, self release, 2007; Generative, Ct-Collective, 2008; Weightless, Laverna, 2009) and the last polymetric compositions (Polymetric Counterpoint #1, Dance) which are based on a strict pulse  and odd rhythmic patterns.

Both in Sicily and in Rome, where he now lives, Fabio has worked with many ensembles and artists ("Domino", 1992-1993; "enoLogica", 1997-2004; "Unexpected", 2010, with sweedish musician Per Boysen; “Materia e Memoria, 2010, with Salvatore Lazzara), contributing in many audio-video installations ("Fucktory", 1995; "Artificialia", 2001; "Il Sesto Continente", 2007) and film soundtracks ("Facoltà di Sguardo", 1990; "Risvegli", 1991; "First call from the Moon", 2004; "La Pelosa", 2010; "Wreckages", 2011 "Non da sola", 2012).

As a soloist, performed in many international festivals both in Europe (Zurich, London, Kholn, Berlin, Paris, Antwerp, Penarth) and in USA (Santa Cruz, San Josè, Oakland). In 2009, produced the First International Live Looping Festival "in Rome".
