‘Ermitaño’ germinated during the two months Michael Alfred Wagner AKA Biomigrant spent at the Fundación Tumac, a community school in Tumaco founded to recover and teach traditional music and dance in the Colombian south pacific. Set to the rhythms of Bunde and Currulao, the EP follows the iconic sound of the Chonta Marimba as it disembarks from its native coasts to navigate new currents, carried along by deep electronic pulses, gusts of wind instruments, and dreamscapes of water and concrete. 

‘La Utopía’ was inspired by a story of the Uruguayan author Eduardo Galeano, questioning what role ideals play in our imperfect and complex world. 

‘Ciudad de Agua’ (City of Water) takes flight through the marimba of Jhon ‘Pitufo’ Cortés (from the band Plu con Pla), guided by the words of the legendary musician Gualajo, who describes the origin of the instrument in the sounds of the ocean and jungle, and imagines how the music would change within an urban context. 

‘Ermitaño’ (Hermit) reimagines a traditional ‘bunde’ as a deep, trap-influenced encounter between the voices of Barbacoa-born singer Cristina Cortés and Mike (Biomigrant), contemplating a long, solitary path and rejuvenating moments of collective celebration, culminating in a dubby flute line.

Ecologia (Ecology): One could say it has a diverse narrative regarding to culture, technical practices, communication, uprising and contradictions. From organic to sampling, digital to analog, from wildfire to social ecology.

"Ecocide" as a project of social organisation is completely related with the capitalist concept of "Necropolitics". Both concepts aim in everything the possibility of commerce and exploitation.

Ibus come from jungles, some of them born from bushes, others from sand, concrete or water. The newborns are currently being brought to life in this sabotaged and poisoned environment, however , Ibus are organised with plenty of reasons for an uprising.

Searching in it’s first act of transition, “Ecologia" presents the end of this stage of nature’s doom and prepare us for the spring!

The EP "Ibu Selva - Ecologia" talks about transition, as a will to change, to instigate profound feelings, commotion and self knowledge.

Caribombo - El Loco 🐴

For our delight, Indio Blanco presents to us a 6-track EP named "El Caracol y La Luna" that travels by distinct sonorities and moments of his career, highlighting the diversity on references that passed by the artist's fruition during the last decades. Indio Blanco is the new alias given to the multimedia project created by the Dutch pioneer and multifaceted artist Piet Jan Blauw.

Piet Jan started his career by combining and developing distinct techniques through his painting with water, oil-paint, etchings, silkscreens, jewellery ( silver, acrylic and rubber ), brass sculptures and kinetic objects. He was a member of the artist union "BBK 69" (1970-1989). Also Piet Jan lectured at the Folk High School in Bergen, the N.S. training school for teachers in Haarlem and the International Make Up Art School in Cologne – Germany.

For the past five decades he's been involved on several incredible projects with talents such as the Mexican pre-hispanic masterminds Jorge Reyes, Cheko Mosqueira and Alyosha Barreiro. In the Netherlands he built partnerships with notorious deejays like DJ Isis and DJ Dimitri Kneppers and collaborations with avant-garde talents from around the globe.

Since the early 70s, Piet Jan Blauw started crafting and performing with interactive kinetic installations which became the foundation of his performances. These installations were quite substantial therefore the artist started to craft smaller sensorial sculptures and use them as instruments. He uses this signature technique until nowadays.

"Este creación de Nombre "Indigital "mixtape, es la simbiosis entre algunos de los temas de nuestro primer EP y experimentaciones más recientes que incorporan nuevos instrumentos y sones. Esta vez quisimos establecer un dialogo entre sonoridades latinoamericanas, árabes y cantos difónicos, entre otros y proponer paralelos culturales con respecto al fundamento de creación musical, común en todas las regiones y es la de la música ritual, extática.

Más allá de haber tenido una emoción premeditada, a la hora de hacer el mixtape, en cada uno de los temas fuimos más bien buscando, como recorriendo un camino, de bases sólidas pero con la amplitud que nos permitió espontaneidad y libertad para la manufactura de una música intuitiva, quizá, especulativa.         

Siempre hemos querido llevar al público, más que un producto artístico, una suerte de vínculo o puerta hacia una emoción cósmica, un paroxismo epifánico; todo esto logrado a través de la suma de expresiones vernáculas y un compendio de recursos musicales electrónicos, catalogando a esta propuesta artística como algo moderno pero arraigado en un fuerte sentimiento ancestral.

Gatokosmiko (grupo base) está conformado por Adrián Lopardo, productor musical y beatmaker argentino, conocido por proyectos como TropicHongo y Punto Rojo; Sebastián Osben de Chile, músico e investigador en percusiones latinas y electrónicas ; Augusto Gómez, músico colombiano especializado en vientos étnicos. Colaboración en uno de los temas, Kurruf Antú músico y DJ chileno.       

Nos permitimos crear el neologismo Indigital, tratando de resignificar la palabra indígena que proviene del latín Indie "de allí" y genes "originario", no solo como homenaje a las comunidades ancestrales, si no apoderándonos de una identidad que trasciende los límites geográficos, culturales e incluso genéticos, lanzando una propuesta, en parte, digital y a la vez análoga".
