I went with carles "Disquieting Polyrhythm" for this task!
First take, improvising with SOMA Terra through HOLOGRAM Microcosm.
Listened to the result and proudly realized that it all sounds a little and a little more like Tim Hecker :)

Disquiet Junto Project 0620: Beat Accrual Accrual
The Assignment: Turn someone’s slow-build beat into a finished track.

I decided to build on Going Modular's "Disquieting Polyrhythm" because of the haunting, repetitive synth and dramatic build of the piece. It's a soundscape that I've been living in now for days. I only made one alteration which was to short it a bit in the last two thirds. https://soundcloud.com/goingmodular

I also really wanted to see if I could combine that with yet another junto from last week just to be cheeky about the assignment. Lee Evans' "Euclidian Dub" worked quite well with this, bringing it in just at the end of the song, making this slow, driving, building piece extra climactic and almost dancy in the end. I haven't been able to write lyrics for a long time but this really sparked it for me and I was able to jot out some words that relate to a lot that's on my mind - the Israel-Hamas war, a complicated relationship with an ill and possibly dying father, being almost 40 and still not knowing if I'll get to be a mother or "just" an artist or both...all the things! It felt cathartic to express some of that. (AND pretty vulnerable).

I love creating choirs in my music. I also loved the idea of once again building from something simpler to something more complex so I had the backing choir slowly emerge while the lead vocal gradually got more crunchy. I added a subby bass partway through and strings to mimic the melody of the synth and bring it out more for the climax. 

Oh! And it was raining when I recorded and I just needed that sound in there.

Following last week's 0619 entry, I took Lee Evan's Euclidean Dub and made a story of it. I wanted to experiment with foley and recording voices, and all I could think about when I heard the song was going to a creepy doctor. I was channeling Fear's "I'm a Doctor a bit"

I accrued more rhythm onto the infectiously groovy @x i i i x x i  track https://soundcloud.com/xiiixxi/disquiet-junto-beat-accrual-disquiet0619
Looped sections of that track, then played the e-drums live along with it using 808 sounds. Quickly picked out segments that sounded like they may work and felt lucky when they did. Did some effected vocal sounds for texture.
