Blonde Maze’s latest album, ‘Second Light,’ is an exercise in chill. In this exclusive commentary, the New York electronic composer talks through key tracks from the album, and how she wants her music to be “a place to go to feel safe.” There’s “The Thought of You,” which features vocals by imallryt, and “To Love Again,” with vocals by Lizzy Land. “Her voice touches my heart every time,” says Blonde Maze. The pioneering hip-hop group De La Soul are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their classic fifth album,  ‘Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump.’ In this exclusive commentary, member Posdnuos reveals how the track “All Good?” was already targeted for OutKast and Goodie Mob, but then they lined up the legend Chaka Khan instead. The song was meant to celebrate the good things in life, until Chaka asked a good question: “Are things always really good?” As Pos recalls, “So we changed it to ‘All Good?’ with the question mark.” Hear more from De La’s Posdnuos, only on SoundCloud.

In this exclusive commentary, SNACKTIME tells SoundCloud about the making of some of their top tracks. To record “TOGETHER” with guest vocalist Devon Gilfillian, the Philadelphia-based band raced to Nashville for a five-hour studio session. The song “stands for every single thing we stand for,” says trombonist and keyboard player Michael Spearman — creating community and spreading kindness, as the house band for former professional football player and sports commentator Jason Kelce’s late night talk show. Bass player and sousaphonist Sam Gellerstein says he wrote “SUNSHINE” as a beautiful, “saccharine” love song, but then the band added some grit by making it more about the trials and rewards of long-term relationships. “Sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses,” says singer Nico Bryant. One of Latin music’s most compelling voices, Silvana Estrada makes music that feels timeless, unmoored from genre yet deeply rooted in heritage. In this exclusive commentary, the Mexican singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist breaks down the tracks from her self-produced album, ‘Vendrán Suaves Lluvias.’ Of “Como un Pájaro,” she says, “I was struggling with insomnia, lonely and sad, sleeping through the day and singing at night, contemplating my own existence.” On “Milagro y Desastre” she contemplates the risk of falling in love as “that moment when you’re about to jump into the unknown, maybe it’s going to be a miracle or maybe it’s going to be a disaster.” Tracks like “Qué Problema” and “Ser de Ti” were born while on tour in Spain, “playing them live, trying something different and getting to understand the real spirit of the songs.” Listen as Silvana Estrada delves into these tracks and others, only on SoundCloud.
