Manchester mainstay Mason Maynard makes a highly-anticipated return to Hot Creations this February. Providing the five-track Somethin’ For Tha Underground EP, two leading vocalists feature on the release in the form of legendary MC talent General Levy and American singer-songwriter Hadiya George.

Mason spoke on how the release came together: “I’ve been writing a broad range of styles over the past couple of years and I’ve tried to share some of that here. I’m grateful to have worked with the legend that is General Levy, as well as the super talented vocalist Hadiya George.”

Somethin’ For Tha Underground feat. General Levy begins proceedings. A tribal, old-skool leaning number, General Levy’s vocals add that signature jungle feel, as Mason’s four-four style marches on in the foreground. Ring Of Fire feat. Hadiya George comes next, manifesting as a soothing sunset cut packed full of emotive chords and warming strings throughout. The dub version soon arrives before Motherland ramps up the tempo courtesy of a rolling bassline and rampant kick-hat combos. Finally, Disco Punk brings things to a funk-driven close thanks to an instantly recognisable vocal sample.

Manchester DJ and producer Mason Maynard has built himself an exceptional reputation since first bursting onto the scene in 2017. Releases on Hot Creations, Relief and Sola have cemented his standing as one of the scene’s brightest young prospects, whilst performances at clubbing and festival institutions such as Privilege (Ibiza), Parklife (Manchester), Hideout (Croatia) and Space (Miami) have brought his sound to global audiences. In recent times, his Lookin’ At Me release saw him work alongside USA heavyweight leaders Insomniac, setting the tone for a new musical direction, with tastes of rhythmic Detroit style electro further establishing his ever-growing musical palette.

Few labels release as many high quality club cuts as Hive Audio. The Swiss imprint never misses and always has a fresh roster of names churning out the goods. This time out they look to Mirco Caruso for two tight new tech cuts that will set any floor alight. They mark his debut on the label and hopefully the start of a fine relationship. The first is Next Guest, a robust and upright house groove with bobbling bass, tin pot precision and aloof, distant vocals bleeding into the mix. It’s a cool, breezy cut that makes you sway your hips. Then comes the more driven Let Me Go, which is a tense, edge of your seat ride through the cosmos with twinkling keys, tough synths and shooting pads all forming a bed off which dreamy, whispered vocals leap. It’s infectious, attention grabbing stuff that will make sure dancers sweat from start to finish. These are two crisp tracks that really get under your skin and want to make you move. British artist Ross Evans returns to Saved for his second release of 2017 and this time round he presents the trip-threat “Emperor EP”.
The lead track is a magical masterpiece with evolving arps and sweeping white noise that builds to intense, angelic drops.
“Relentless" is an acid-tinged workout that is driven forward by a fluttering synth whilst supported by shuffling percussion, intelligently spliced vocal cuts and crisp hi-hats.
Rounding off the release and certainly commanding just as much attention as the other tracks is “Get A Little High”, a tribal workout with 
haunting, seductive vocals.

One could describe Mirco Caruso’s previous career with just three words: “haste makes waste”.  The club-musician with Italian roots’ approach to music is never contrived - nor does he care for exclusive hype or shallow bandwagoning. Mirco Caruso’s career is embossed by a gravitas that has consistently and continuously led him to the music that reflects his passion the most.
The steep rise that started with his first tech house release in 2014 - and was followed by broad international support and gigs around the world - suddenly came to a halt in 2020 when Covid hit.
Yet, against all odds, this marks the beginning of Caruso’s musical and artistic transition. After struggling with finding new inspiration and creativity amidst a world turned upside down, passion finally was reignited after visiting a concert that would inspire a profound change. A change that has ultimately resulted in his newly formed moniker «MICA» that represents an equally newly formed, inherently melodic and dreamy signature sound. One thing, though, remains unchanged: MICA’s impeccable flair for deeply touching productions and his incredible skill set in the studio. Surely, it won’t be long, until his music yet again finds its way back into the rotations of the biggest names in the industry.
