After taking a rather extended sabbatical, Dean is now continuing forward on his trailblazing quest to torch up techno and house dance floors with brand new unreleased, exclusive material. With epic dj sets, live performances and visuals, Dean has terrorized clubs globally with his uncompromising fast dj style from London to Japan and has played at legendary venues such as Tresor, Ultraschall, Ultimate B.A.S.E and Cocoon club to name just a few.

Dean Cole on Dark Frequency 13 part 1

Lucy’s ‘Banality of Evil’ EP teases apart the dark sides of human psychology and lays them down as fractured, angular tracks. Inspired by Hannah Arendt’s writings on conformity and totalitarianism SA013 makes for provocative listening. ‘Superior Orders’ is an off kilter introduction: Lucy took synth lines that Roll The Dice crafted in Stockholm and broke them down, buckling the lines and revealing their malevolence. ‘Stanford Prison’ layers wistful top lines over driving base creating a fluid, transitory atmosphere. ‘Milgram Experiment’ opens with a beautifully simple sequence and splinters into deep, warm dub. The track includes voices, but these are not catchy euphoric vocals, instead a voice repeats: ‘I began to feel that I was losing my identity’. The tracks don’t aim to soundtrack the experiments and theories of their titles, instead they act as a point in case. Their dense structures and repeating sequences hint at how conformity and obedience normalize the darkest of human behaviours. ‘Asch Paradigm’ is a stunning, molten close, it feels heavy and weighted but as with the EP as a hole, Lucy handles this dark material with an incredible lightness of touch.

Perc Trax proudly presents the first EP to be taken from the forthcoming Forward Strategy Group album ‘Labour Division. This first vinyl 12” takes three of the best tracks from Patrick and Al’s debut album and adds 2 remixes from white-hot synth/industrial fusioneers Factory Floor.

Opening up the EP is the album’s title track, a classic Forward Strategy Group lesson in restraint as the track’s central percussion hits get continually worked over six and a half minutes, forming a hypnotic groove that has been a key part of Perc’s DJ sets this year. Next up is ‘Mandate’, where a semi-broken rhythm hint at classic electro as vocal syllables and stabs echo across the stereo field.

On the b-side ‘A Greyed Out Life’ showcases one of Labour Division’s more atmospheric moments as pulsing synths build over classic soundtrack pads. Gracefully fading in and out the track makes its mark on you without outstaying its welcome.

Finally we have the two of three forthcoming remixes by Factory Floor of album cut ‘Nihil Novi’. Since surfacing a few years ago the London trio have lived up to the hype thanks to their blistering improvised live performances, releases on DFA, Optimo and Blast First Petite and their associations with such legends as New Order’s Stephen Morris and the ex-Throbbing Gristle pair of Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti. 

First up is Gabriel Gurnsey’s synth lead interpretation, firing out similar drum hits as Factory Floors recent ‘Two Different Ways’ single and topping it off with a twisting monosynth line. Nik Colk Void provides the 2nd Factory Floor remix, following in the path of her recent ‘Gold E’ single on the O Genesis label with an abstract take on Nihil Novi, rippling with guitar noise and distorted bass blasts.

Techno producer & DJ from Sankt Augustin, Nord Rhein-Westfalen Germany, born August 18th 1981. He is also founder and manager of digital labels like Foot Fetish Records and Public Frequency Records. His brainchild Foot Fetish is a label that presents and promotes spanking new material from a great selection of artist’s like Gunjack ,Stingrays,Mattias Fridell ,Ryuji Takeuchi,S-Tek ,Patrick DSP,Kai Randy Michel,Vegim,Tony Silver,Luis Ruiz,,Brad Lee,Concrete DJz ,Kuniaki Takenaga and many more releasing & Remixing strictly the sound of Techno.
