Samer Soltan brings his debut LP to Renaissance…

Hot off the back of ‘Elba’ on his own Santuary imprint, Samer Soltan now lands at Renaissance to deliver his debut LP, ‘Solitude’. And what a journey it’s been to get to there, both creative and literally.

Originally hailing from Tunisia, it wasn’t quite two years ago, in the middle of a pandemic, Samer took the brave decision to move to Brussels. “The relocation was two-fold,” he explains, “I had secured a place to study electronic production at college here, but I also knew I had to be in mainland Europe to give my career the best chance of succeeding.”

Once settled, officially qualified and with a legion of admirers and supports that include Dixon, Âme, Denis Horvat, Joris Voorn, John Digweed, Frankey & Sandrino, plus many more, Samer finally turned his hand to that rarest of commodities in dance - an actual LP. “I know they’ve become a bit of a rarity in this digital age,” he continues, “but it’s always been an ambition, just like releasing on Renaissance, which I grew-up listening to. It seemed a very natural realisation bringing the two together.”

For Renaissance’s part, the decision to pick-up the album was an easy one. “Album’s are so tricky. Producing twelve tracks (as is the case here), that are as diverse and consistently brilliant as ‘Solitude’ is an amazing feat, “ confirms Renaissance’ Geoff Oakes.

Kicking-off with the infectious lead single, ’Chkoun’, the stage is set for a production masterclass that takes in indie-funk with ‘Crazy’; the haunting electronic melancholy of ‘Is This A Dream’; ‘No Time For The Past’s’ beautiful melodic ascent and the twisted, genre-defying skills of ‘Unknown Me’, ‘Time Machine’ and ‘Cyberpunk’, which walk that in-demand line between indie and techno. He even manages to bring things to a string-unwinding, deep house conclusion with the Kate Bush-esque, ‘Control Your Mind’. It is truly virtuoso stuff.

“I called the album ‘Solitude’ because it perfectly captured the sentiment of this journey; from the move to the creative process itself, putting the album together, I did feel lonely and exposed at times. It’s very rewarding to finally get it out there,” Samer humbly concludes.

Moodyverse is a newly formed label based in Bratislava. It is set to bend the musical universe by providing a soundtrack to a timeless journey through space and time. Transformed from an event series, the label's target is to release contemporary electronic music carefully crafted and selected for the dance-floor. Expect hefty grooves combined with soul-seeking melodies and join us on a journey through our universe. The debut release comes with 2 originals by label founder Denes Toth, spiced up with an impressive remix by Yubik. Endeavour captures the attention by introducing new elements every few bars, betting on a twisty arpeggiated melody to take you all the way to the cathartic breakdown, which elevates the vibe into a dark repeated lead parade. Tested by industry heavy-weights and destined for peak-time dance-floors, it's a must in every playlist …and it even has UFO sounds in it! Yubik's take on Endeavour brings in more feelings and an even more direct approach to the dance-floor. Starting off with mystical vocal inserts and Yubik's signature drum hits, the groove transports you to a transcendent, more heart-warming breakdown. …and it doesn't stop there. The drop gets your feet moving by bringing in spicy elements one by one to make your heart beat to the impressive kickdrum. Hlavolam's naughty rhythm makes your ear worms wanna dance by constantly switching different percussive elements and bringing in other-wordly sounds to prepare you for what's coming next. The sneaky arpeggiator takes you on an unexpected journey through voices of mystical creatures to meet the main character of the track: a glitchy, yet steady bass sound, which makes the drop audible even in space. Then we get a repeat of all elements joining to make yet another snare-roll fuelled breakdown to make sure the track ends in style. The journey begins here. Gizmo & Mac debut on Mirror Records with their newest EP "Arkanum". The four-track Melodic House & Techno EP features heavy bumping basslines, stirring melodies and driving drums. The first track "Arkanum" already starts of with a massive bassline and builds up into a true peak time banger that will make sure to get any dancefloor moving. The remix by Heerhorst takes it even a step further, adding driving drums to create a seemingly never-ending rave bliss. The flipside of the EP features "Zeitgeist", this tracks delivers a more melodic approach without ever neglecting the dancefloor suitability. With the last track on the record Monsieur Pluspetit returns to Mirror Records with his remix of "Zeitgeist". He’s focusing on the melodic parts of the original, emphasizing the vocal bits and giving it his very own touch.
