Duckett is back with his show and says: It seems fitting to have Grimes as my first guest on Outsiders. Everything is his fault, but he says it's all my fault. We started making music together 25 years ago, its been all downhill from then. It's because of Grimes that I consider broken and fucked music normal. He made me feel OK about playing music backwards at quarter speed after a week without sleep. He let me live in his shed, and let me use his four track. I remember Grimes sat in the corner, just observing me as I lost my fucking mind into a microphone. It was real shit. And it still is. Grimes nods to those days this mix, inspired by the inspired, wandering from the well trodden path into various corners of obscurity and back. Grimes has highlighted the story of Syrian producer Obay Alsharani as a kind of abstract sentiment whilst talking about his guest mix. It's worth reading Obay's story. It's worth listening to Grimes mix!! Starts at 25 mins and as hour long. You've got my bonkers shiz for 30 mins each side. Enjoy!!!!

Seeing the interstate circuit beginning to turn in Melbourne means the return of one of Sydney’s stalwart DJs, IV Drip. Ivy is radio host (Nomad Radio), events organiser (Headroom), expert mix curator (NTS, Animalia) and critical fixture in the Nectar family. Inherent to being part of the Nectar crew, is their commitment movement toward gender equality in the electronic music community. Ivy’s commitment to her community shines both on and off the stage - always tinkering away and bringing multiple creative projects to life, she’s undoubtedly drawn to creating spaces that keep Sydney’s nightlight alive. Beyond her backstage prowess, Ivy and IV Drip’s mixes have always left me floored. Luckily her in demand skills as a DJ and artist have landed her an ongoing slot on Nomad radio, where she has recently transitioned from presenting her show ‘Thanks for Sharing’ to newly founded ‘Home Time’ where she explores Australian music bounded by no sound. A Boorloo born treasure returns to its home shores for the holidays. The undeniably adored Jo has been and still continues to be an integral part of the music community spanning between Perth & Melbourne. Although Jo had already left for Melbourne before I got to meet her, her name was echoed among peers whether it be the alias Toni Yotzi (RIP Tony Yozzi) or Jo. From Day Woo to Deep Doogs Jo’s commitment to bring alternative dance parties to the scene never went unnoticed or unappreciated. No matter how far and wide her talents may take her across this globe, she will always remain a true G.

Jo: "I love when the environment allows for a long game, when music feels like mist, an all encompassing presence but not intrusive. There's no anxiety waiting for the next track to be mixed quickly, with long form music being woven into a new journey. I love subtle intensity, metallic textures with breathing room, sweetness and lots of melancholia. 

I've finally come to place where I 'mostly' feel mixes exist because of a certain time and emotional place. It's not the last exploration, so they don't need to represent all parts of you in your entirety. They're a moment, not your life's work.

Here's this one, not perfect, but from where I was standing everything and everyone was. 

I can't properly describe what a deep joy it was to play for old + new friends. I am profoundly grateful that a year of missing, distance and disconnection allowed me to feel so embraced and cared for throughout the beautiful Boorloo summer. Thank you Monty ❤ thank you friends, thank you family.

This new VA offers a journey through contemporary soundscapes, where sound, texture, and
rhythm interacts with fluidity. Nine productions revolve around a shared balance of energy,
space, and emotional depth, creating a continuous sonic flow.

The journey opens with Cyberlife, delivering a dark, soft introduction, a slowed-down break
with percussive undertones, perfect for easing into the immersion. The energy builds with
Jafadan, driven by a dub groove and resonant toms, gradually adding depth to the sonic
material. Hohe continues the ascent with a tribal, textured track, built on repetition and
vibration in an organic loop with hypnotic tension. Mersel pushes the narrative into an
analog and psychedelic dimension, with massive basses and expansive synths. Solarythm
steps in with a faster tempo and granular, trancy layers, where heavy bass intertwines with a
hypnotic melody. Fonzo shifts the journey into a sci-fi universe, combining break rhythms
and dissonant synths to create an evolving, kinetic soundscape. The duo Sublife (Sub Accent
and Cyberlife) delivers percussive, introspective techno, enriched with airy pads and
breathing analog textures. Yunze Ou initiates the descent with a slow, melodic track, deeply
rooted in deep sensibilities. The compilation closes with an ambient, cinematic track by 矯激
[Radical], whose deep basses open a space of suspension, somewhere between sci-fi and
dreamlike reverie.
