This track was originally supposed to be the intro for
ANALOG, but I changed it last minute. Not sure why I decided that back then—maybe it felt too melancholic to kick off the
album. Funny enough, it feels pretty fitting for these times...

This is the version I still play in every set—just a bit more
uplifting with the different drums and sounds here and there.

“Escape” didn’t make it onto the album because it was too similar to some other tracks on the LP. Back in the day i thought, I’ve told this story a dozen times, so I’ll skip it for the album and save it for later… still love playing this track in my sets—it’s just fun to mix!

Here we go... I’m producing techno now! :-) In fact, I’ve been doing this for a looong time, usually without any particular goal or release in mind. This track was more or less a challenge to use only the drum machine Tempest for the whole production. I think it didn’t make it onto the album because I wanted the whole package to have a more DnB-focused vibe.

Here’s another track I produced around the end of 2018. Back then, I was still unsure where this project would go—maybe it was a kind of training to get into the right creative mood.

Pole Zero

I wanted to see just how powerful Melodyne really is, so I figured I’d need the worst singer around—so I did it myself. Unfortunately, I ended up sounding a bit like I’m on helium, or even worse… so I called the track DeeLEr.

When I started producing music, I always imagined an old guy who’s grumpy about everything—especially change. I wanted my music to provoke him, to make him a bit mad.
In South German slang, this kind of person is called a “Bruddler” (the female equivalent would be a “Karen”).

I started working on "Deep Down Raw" around 2020, hoping to release it quickly so I could play it at an upcoming gig. The show got canceled… well, a lot got canceled, we all know what happened.
Anyway, I kind of forgot about the tune until last year, when I dived back in to really finish it and make it a proper part of that trashworld.
So, let’s digest the product of my dark, chaotic vibes—which, ironically, keep me happy in real life.(Sound like a therapy tbh. 😂) 
Deep Down Raw is out today. You can get it on Bandcamp (Bandcamp Friday) and all streaming platforms.

Michael Bräuninger, known by his artist name Misanthrop, is an independent electronic music 
producer, DJ, and label owner (Neosignal Recordings) from Heilbronn, Germany. Since 2005, he 
has worked professionally as a drum-and-bass producer and, over the years, has released three 
solo albums, including Misanthrop, Analog, and Universe. With over 20 years of relentless work 
on his own musical and artistic visions, he has made a name for himself in both audio and video 
production and has become a key figure in the international drum-and-bass scene.
 His unmistakable, energetic, timeless sound has earned him an impressive discography, including 
his solo albums as well as two collaboration albums (From Deep Space and Raum und Zeit), and 
successful EPs on labels such as RAM Records and Blackout. Releases on OWSLA, Mau5trap, 
Shogun, Critical, Division, Renegade Hardware, Shadow Law, Cyanide, and Subtitles Music 
round out his portfolio. His own label, Neosignal Recordings, serves as a platform to realize his 
own visions as well as those of other artists. He receives support from international heavyweights
