Mighty Misc and Gus Woolery are the Postal Service of the rap world. To make the unheard of conceptual collaborative project, “Grown Ups,” Gus created the music for the entire album, front to back, without any communication with Misc. or input regarding style, tempo or number of the beats. Once he was done, Gus mailed the disc of instrumentals to Misc., who then laid down all the lyrics exactly as the songs were pre-arranged without any consultation from Gus. The result is one of the most easily relatable rap records for normal people like us, free from all the shootouts and trap-houses we never find the time to visit anymore. “Grown Ups” is as funny and approachable as it is subtly profound. Go listen and be proud of rap again.

Mighty Misc, Portland before Portlandia, is a rapper that makes songs that others don’t (or can’t) and pulls it off. He founded the local monthly, Hungry Hungry Hip-Hop, and fronts the live project, The Bottom Shelf Band. 

Gus Woolery, a Portland, Oregon native, is a rap beat technician who rocks self-taught techniques and crafts instrumental editions tight as boys home bed sheets. Both artists are members of the Monster's Ink Collective.
