I'm not a crook

Misha Non Penguin is the love child of a Norwegian and a Scotsman, Arvid Falch and David Coyle. They have been threatening to release an album for 2 years and now it is finally with us.
 
Whilst sat penniless and without a passport on a park bench in Berlin in late Summer 2011, Arvid, instead of feeling sorry for himself, decided to form a new band. He began to sing ideas into his phone whilst he waited on the Norwegian Embassy to make safe his passage back to his home in Oslo. His former band, I see horses, had stalled. On his eventual return to Oslo he, along with the Scottish former I see horses vocalist David, expounded the sketches from Berlin. The result of this is now realised through the release of “Park Days”.
 
In 2012 they released the single “Fear of Assault”, which received radio play in Norway, Scotland and Ukraine. Described as a mix of Frightened Rabbit and the Animal Collective the band seemed destined to be a welcome addition to the Northern European music scene. But then they disappeared for a year.
 
In 2013 they release their next single “I’m not a crook” featuring a guest appearance from “Tricky Dicky” Nixon. The song was once again played on Norwegian and Scottish radio; the Ukranians were concentrating on some ne’er-do-wells hanging around their border, so missed the release of this one.
 
Then, again, the radio tuned to static and the dynamic duo disappeared for a year.
 
Despite the outward appearance of inactivity, the boys were actually working feverishly to release their debut album. Latterly, they enlisted two others to help them complete the album. Simon Would(England) and Tuva Hellum Marschäuser (Norway).
 
Now in May 2014, Misha Non Penguin are delighted to announce the release of their debut album “Park Days”.
 
Misha Non Penguin create a multi layered heavily distorted synth pop landscape; driven by bass laden beats; littered with austere observations and tear jerking harmonies.
 
The band name is taken from the novel "Death and the Penguin" by Andrey Kurkov, in which there are two Characters named Misha - one is a penguin and the other is a homosapien. David and Arvid didn't want to opt for another animal related band name so they went for Misha Non Penguin.
