Baião Banana is a tune I wrote many years ago and played often during my Zinc Bar stint with Brazilian singer Marianne Ebert. It is featured on my album "AYA" and the melody is sung without words by great Brazilian singer Barbara Mendes and myself. The composition itself is a baião - a rhythm from the north east of Brazil - and 'banana' because you can't help but singing those syllables when vocalizing the melody. The composition pays tribute to the wonderful Brazilian composer Milton Nascimento and Edu Lobo who have written many anthem-like songs. — Misha Piatigorsky, composer and pianist
