The Psychology of Urban Decay

A proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Kalkadoon and Yirendali woman, Miss Kaninna is a Naarm-based (Melb) artist, hailing from lutriwita/Tasmania. Making waves with her breakout single Blak Britney in May 2023, the rapper/singer/songwriter has been on a meteoric rise.

Blak Britney arrived to critical acclaim, captivating audiences with Miss Kaninna’s ferocious charisma. An anti-establishment anthem amplifying Black women's voices, it reached #1 on triple j within two weeks and garnered full rotation. This success led to high-profile festival spots, including Meredith, Beyond the Valley, Wildlands, Sun Cycle, and a spot on the 2024 Laneway tour alongside Stormzy, Raye, and Steve Lacy. Her standout SXSW Sydney performance earned her the Justin Cosby Award for Best Emerging Artist.

Her follow-up single, Pinnacle Bitch - co-produced by YAOB - is a club-ready anthem celebrating self-expression and resistance. It featured on Apple Music’s The Ebro Show and amassed 250,000 streams in a few short months. Shortly after, she was named triple j Unearthed Artist of The Year and performed at SXSW in Texas, where she drew record crowds.

Her music also featured on Netflix's Heartbreak High Season 2, with Blak Britney included in the trailer.
