Bought this tape in the Ark shop in Leeds around 1994 I think. Always wondered who the dj was so if anyone has any info about this series of tapes I'd love to know , Some quality tunes on this

Actually not much straight up house on it, but that's what the tape is called.
More UK bleeps, breakbeat and early rave, the sound of Raindance and the Berwick Manor ;-)

Smokin Jo rockin' the house back in 92.  Quality on this tape conversion isn't as good as others I've posted over the years.  The recording level must have been in the red for a lot of it, so apologies for the distortion (I can only do so much in Audacity!).  You can negate the effect a bit if you listen through a decent graphic equaliser app on your phone (the Denon Audio one is good if you have an iPhone). I've noticed in some of my tapes that there are times when the crowd makes so much noise that the tape recording picks up their cheers.  If you listen carefully at 1:03:35 you can just hear the crowd going for it during the breakdown.  Anyway hope it brings back some happy memories for those that were there all those years ago (not quite me! I started going in 93).

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.
