This song is dedicated to those who have dreams and aspirations. If someone tells you that you will never make those visions a reality, use it as fuel to prove them wrong. I believe happiness is something that comes from within. No matter what aspect of your life brings you a sense of peace and inner joy, embrace your strength and lose sight of weakness. Music relieves my stress and helps me to cope with struggle. 

“Purple Sweater” was written, performed, and recorded by my new found friend, Elias Perez, my fiance, Sal Tardibuono, and myself. The version that we created from Elias’ original song was supposed to show an argument from multiple perspectives, involving themes such as:  love, nostalgia, desperation, heartbreak, stubbornness, dependence, as well as independence.

Relationships can lead to all of the components listed above, along with many more. My name is Brittany Simmons, and I am an advocate for being yourself. Accepting the person you are and learning to love yourself is essential to being happy, in my opinion. This was the first song I recorded myself, with help from my fiance. 

I know it may not be perfect...but the way in which we so spontaneously came together during the busiest time of our school semester at CSUF and work life, simply to enjoy each other’s talents and company, was one of the main factors that deemed this piece so valuable to me.
