Haar sets zijn eclectisch met invloeden van de legendes uit Detroit, maar ook met invloeden van hedendaagse New Yorkse producers en edits van haar favo pop & r&b artiesten. Ze maakt ook deel uit van het AMPFEMINE Collectief die zich onder andere inzet voor meer diversiteit achter de draaitafels.

Jean Pierre runs the Brooklyn based label Somersault Records. Since its start in December of 2020 Somersault has released over 150 mixes with a heavy focus on DJ's from the local Brooklyn scene. Somersault has released two projects in their first year, a hard hitting techno ep by Brooklyn duo Y2K4K and a beautiful ambient/experimental ep by Locust Lotus, both projects can be found on their bandcamp below. Somersault is about to celebrate their one year anniversary on December 3rd with a compilation release featuring some of Brooklyn's most exciting artists!

"I feel like I haven't been hearing much disco being played out recently, most of my friends sets start at around 150 bpm so I decided to make a mix of some great catchy disco tracks with some classics sprinkled in. Whenever I have people over my place before going out I play a lot of these tracks and I think it sets the mood right to be up dancing till 5am."

Missing Tapes 001 : CcC

Catu Diosis is up next with an hour of upbeat Ugandan music from kuduro and afro house to acholi. Catu Diosis is a Kampala based DJ and member of the Nyege Nyege collective and is currently based in Cologne. While on tour in Europe in March Uganda introduced travel restrictions in and out of the country but this very talented individual (who not only DJ's but also produces and is a professional dancer) has taken it in her stride and is doing a one year internship for Migrafrica in Germany while also running a DJ workshop locally called Dope Gal Africa to encourage Black and African women, a demographic who are currently under represented in the DJ world, to learn the craft. Massive thanks to Catu for sending us this wild mix.

Missing Tapes 003 : Catu Diosis

Next up in the mix series is multifaceted artist Astrid Gnosis. Astrid was the last DJ to play at our party at La Cheetah Club, Glasgow pre lockdown and had quite the effect on the crowd who basically ripped the booth apart while dancing so hard. The Valencian has great affection for Scotland and Scottish comedian Limmy in particular who's responsible for the vocal sample 'Gnosis' that features throughout the mix. Expect pure hardcore power!

Missing Tapes 002 : Astrid Gnosis

To kick Allergy Season back into gear we've called upon the Mr Dependable of Appalachian Techno, Alex Falk.

Those of you who heard OOF will know the pedigree that Alex brings, but Movefast ups the ante, breaking and reassembling his bass-heavy techno sound in new ways. The opening cut “Movefast” is, a little paradoxically, the only track on the EP which doesn’t start with an immediate ten-ton kick. Once the song gets going it is unstoppable, propelled forward on a breakbeat jetstream to the other side of a distant horizon. "EBE" keeps up the pace, a straight-up head-down thumper without a moment’s relent.

“HG12” breaks the spell, only to introduce a cut-up, printer-jamming rhythm that could step toe-to-toe with any rough ’n ready banger you care to name. Clipped loops recur in “Know”, this time applied to a vaguely ecstatic vocal with a wisp of UKG, and a resonant low-end that carries a trace of Miami’s 808s and sub-shake. Movefast rounds out on a number that brings the action closer to Falk’s Knoxville home. The combination of mechanical repetition and delicately-layered piano and vox on “U Won’t” combine to something beautifully hypnotic: like breaking through the clouds while ringing an endless stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Movefast is as thick as late summer air, as rough-edged as present reality, fearsome yet kinda nice with it – a moment of release as we slide into the third Season of 2020.

Missing Tapes 004 comes from none other than Italian born and Berlin based, Madalba. The Buttons DJ / co-organiser is know for long sets, always playing vinyl and impeccable selections. Alba has very kindly stuck together a mix of some dark, groovey, funky and banging techno records for us all to enjoy so check it out. Missing Tapes 005 sees Jasmine Infiniti bring her wild and intense style to the mix series. Jasmine was born in the Bronx, New York and grew up in the ballroom scene. Her DJ roots lay in Oakland, California where she and friends started the party and now label 'New World Dysorder' that centres trans creatives, performers, and musicians. Jasmine also released an album of absolute fire 'BXTCH SLÄP' earlier this year so be sure to check that out on Bandcamp. Big thanks to Jasmine for sending us this mix.
