Happy St. Paddy's Day! ☘️

We're headed back to Boston for the second episode in a row with Jimmy Granara as the guest on Episode 024 of Mission Statements. 

Jimmy has the same passion like a handful of the Delta Bravo Urban Exploration Team has when it comes to searching out and hitting spots whenever he can. The episodes with these guys are particularly fun and seem to only feel like we've spoken for ten minutes, but almost two hours have gone by. 

We talk bucket list spots, locations we've both hit before, the feeling we get when we're in particular places that haven't changed at all over the years and his trips overseas to Italy and London where he hit some of my favorite mashes.

My guest this time around is Lil Dee " Danny James. Ridiculously talented, born and raised and representing Coney Island. 
He wrote his first rhyme at ten years old. He was killing cyphers at twelve and hasn't stopped since. With his 20th birthday fresh behind him, he isn't even close to stopping. In my opinion, he was pulled right out of the golden era and placed here. A lyricist with clever word play, punchlines, and touches on relatable topics.

Lil Dee aka Danny James (Rapper)

This was a very long time coming. 
My guest on this episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast is one of The Godfathers of Hardcore... singer for Agnostic Front, The Alligators, The Disasters, former bass player for The Psychos and Madball... author of "My Riot: Agnostic Front, Grit, Guts & Glory" and his new book, "WITH TIME: The Roger Miret Archives"... ladies and gentlemen, one of the greatest to ever do it... my friend, Roger Miret!

We had a cool, laid-back conversation about everything from his books, holding onto memories, how hardcore and the culture is so important to us, and many other people on a personal level. I decided to pick his brain about one of my all-time favorite AF records, "Liberty & Justice For...", what's going on with The Alligators and what's next up for Agnostic Front. 

I'm grateful for the time he put aside for me. Especially since he rarely does podcasts as well as taking time away from his family to talk to me for a little while.

Relatively Unscathed (Book Update)

I finally had the chance to sit down with my friend, Danielle Dombrowski. She's been photographing hardcore and metal shows since the mid-90s, owns a successful hair salon, and also does wedding photography. We discuss what made her step into the hardcore scene, where she grew up, and some of the earliest shows she shot. With hundreds of shows under her belt and thousands of photos to show for it, her craft is second to none. This was a cool, laid-back conversation. I hope you enjoy.

Danielle Dombrowski (Hardcore Photographer. Business Owner)

My guest is a legendary figure in the hardcore scene. With a resume that spans forty years. He's played in bands such as Blind Approach, Agnostic Front, Madball, The Eulogy, and currently H2O. Ladies and gentlemen, Matt Henderson. We run through his entire history from growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the formation of Blind Approach to playing CBGB's and planting the seeds to lifelong friendships with future members of some of the bands he wound up playing in. He then decided to move to Boston to go to school from Minnesota and, with the friendships made in the past, opened the doors to joining Agnostic Front. From there, the rest is history. Scott Vogel is back after about five years since he was last on the podcast. We has an informal conversation about touring, how much he appreciates he quiet downtime after playing over 200 shows on average per year. Crazy Eddie NYHC. We touch on the part he played in Grand Theft Auto IV: Liberty City. We go back into old New York City to movies then back to bands then start discussing our mutual love for cemeteries. Mixed within all of this are random side conversations about how the soul and feel of NYC has either changed or is gone altogether. And of course we mention how our friends parents had the right to slap us and that there was always that one kid that wouldn't tell anybody that he went home and stayed in while playing manhunt, jackin' up the entire game. This was awesome to do and I'm sure we'll wind up doing another episode. We could've gone for another couple of hours, easily.

Delta Bravo Urban Exploration Team:

Founded by Danny O'Connor (The Outside House Museum. House Of Pain. La Coka Nostra) back in 2009.
While on tour with La Coka Nostra he found the house where The Curtis Brothers lived in the 1983 Francis Ford Coppola movie, "The Outsiders" which was adapted from the novel written by S.E. Hinton of the same name. 
While on the same tour, Danny took the tour bus and looked for more movie locations in Austria. Once he returned to Los Angeles, he created the name and logo... the Delta Bravo Urban Exploration Team was born.

The rest is history...
