This is the first single off Mandy's 'Universe'.

MANDY is the the moniker of Mel and Andy Fung. Their album ‘Universe’,  was written and recorded in the lead up to Mel’s passing from cancer in October 2014, it marks her final profound and beautiful musical statement.

Both MANDY’s members pedigree in the Welsh music scene is well-established, performing with the likes of Derrero, Richard James, Pink Assassin, The MeMeMe’s, No Thee No Ess and many, many more. ‘Universe’ marks a departure both from these previous projects, as well as MANDY’s anarchic approach to music-making itself, demonstrating even greater maturity and songwriting depth. More than this, the album is testament to its creator’s restless creativity. Mel’s close friend, Mared Lenny, says it better than we could:

“The beautiful thing about music making is that it transcends mortality. It outlives us. And for someone with such a distinctive voice and spirit it’s comforting to know she’ll be on record for all time, forever immortal through her incredible creativity”

“Gira” (a portuguese word meaning to change or turn around) is Batuk’s third single from their forthcoming debut album 'Musica da Terra' to be released on May 27th 2016, on Teka Recordings. 

Batuk’s latest single, is a hard hitting song of protest, calling for change. Addressing the constant war and fighting in Africa, the song is born of dance floor culture, but not of it’s typical hedonistic nature. Gira is a loud call for change from the youth of Africa. There are currently fifteen African countries involved in war, or are experiencing post-war conflict and tension. The statistics are not only shocking/frightening…the time has come for CHANGE. 

The beautiful music video was submitted to Batuk, by a fan who was touched by the song at a live show, and dug through his trove of documentaries and stock footage to create a powerful montage. 

On the EP, the Gira original version is accompanied by two stunning South African house remixes, one by the Ggom stalwarts, Rudeboyz, and another by prolific Johannesburg producer/DJ Eltonnick.
