Some of the music from the dance show I've scored for Off Beaten Path Dance (offbeatenpathdance.com) 

1. ShadowPlay - a shorter more free version of the longer section of the dance show with the same title. 

2. Clocks - two prepared piano parts used in the show, over which I perform a third piano part.

3. Codail Sámh - a song from my album "Wires" which was the first project developed with Off Beaten Path Dance, which went on to become a central portion of this longer show. In the show itself, the main vocals are sung live, and there's additional live piano also.

Experimentation with prepared piano for a piece of music for a contemporary dance show.

It's windy out there today and I've the house to myself, so I've had some coffee and am hiding away at the piano for the afternoon. The wind is blowing in through the chimney, and it seems that I can't escape the sound of it. I was sitting outside while having my coffee, enjoying how blustery and warm it was, but it started to rain a bit while I was playing.

Piano Diary: July 2nd 2014

Spent the morning making bread because I'm having a very poor week. Joni Mitchell is usually the soundtrack of my bread making times, and today was no different. While the dough was rising I made some scotch pancakes and coffee and listened to "Into The Woods" for a while too. I'd take breaks to go and play piano intermittently. Clicked record and improvised a bit as per usual. There's some nice little hints of melodies in this one. I kinda like it.

Piano Diary: July 4th 2014

Had a slow start to the day, but a focused one. Took some time at the piano after I finally ate breakfast around lunchtime. Brought my coffee in with me and this was the first thing that popped up on the piano. Just a smattering of chords and the tiniest fragment of a melody. 

It's short, possibly because I need to go refill my coffee mug now. Just a snowball mic, a laptop, and a piano.

Late start to the day. Was supposed to have rehearsals today but they've been postphoned until tomorrow. Had a coffee and a small bit of a noodle around at the piano for the short time I had the house to myself. It didn't last long today. I should be leaving the house I guess.

Piano Diary - July 13th 2014

Taking the afternoon to play piano and practice before rehearsals this evening with Off Beaten Path dance. Warming up with improvisations as per usual. There was another much longer one today, but I'm keeping that aside as the sound levels peaked a lot, and it was quite busy, but there's nuggets of ideas in it for a string piece I might write for the orchestra.

Piano Diary: July 14th 2014

I did a few workshops this summer with Jolt Theatre, and two were around writing and recording radio drama. I wrote a very short little radio drama as part of the workshop, which was then recorded and broadcast on Flirt FM. All kinds of fun. I kept it lighthearted, and had lots of fun with the actors in the studio on the day.
