Today's the final day of 2013. So, I've tucked myself into my little home studio, and done what I've spent most of the past year doing... Speaking Over Beats.

Speaking Over Beats (feat. Kid Dyno)

It's after midnight... Perfect time to put out a new song. This one's called "Lights Out" and references a power outage that turned my hood dark a few weeks ago. The beat was crafted by a cat outta Argentina who I know via SoundCloud. Homeskillet calls himself ZEGA (AKA Santiago Mendez) and has been passing me beats over the past few months. They're usually chilled out soundscapes that pair super crisp drums with softly strummed strings.

The instrumental beat for New Haircut was crafted by the UK's KRANG. The super-duper fast verse is rapped by BGFT (pronounced Bigfoot). The screams, oooohs, and other lovely girly sounds were made by Mic Girl. The other rap verses were spat by Chadder Box.

Gotta new Chadder Box song ready for your lovely ear holes. I've been grinding on so much new stuff that I'm kinda overwhelmed by the potential of it all. Froze up. Getting lost trying to make shit PERRRRRFECT. So, last night I kicked out some quick and dirty words over a Jens Lekman sample.

Kid Type Shit

Hella sssssstoked on my new song, RECESS!!! The beat was crafted by my SoundCloud homeskillet Connor Button. The first verse was spat by Bainbridge Island's BGFT (AKA Nathaniel Buechler). And the second verse comes courtesy of Seattle's BEZ (AKA Corbin Lester). Most of the other noises were made by me.

Roughly a month ago the 3 of us got together at my little cabin studio, drank hella tea, ate lots of macaroni and cheese, and recorded our deep thoughts about Recess.

Velociraptors (feat. KRANG)

Much LOVE to Judith Weinstock for her gorgeous harmonies, and a virtual high-five (schwappp!!!) to The Jinx for crafting this gorgeous beat. 

I've been working on this one for over two years. I wrote it in a single sitting, but keep re-recording the verses over and over and over. Never satisfied with the cadence, the vocal texture, the syncopation... And it's been an exhausting story to tell myself over and over and over. But, I'm ready.

Dedicated (feat. Judith Weinstock and The Jinx)

Not that long ago, I lived in my car. After a few years of that grind, I kinda hit the "reset" button and moved in with my folks. Then I REALLY hit the "reset" button, and moved out to the woods and into a tent. Then I hit the "go" button, bought a tiny slice of delicious land and moved into a cabin.

P.S. If you don't know who Steven Segal is, know this. He's a slightly obese, early 90's martial arts movie star, who's slicker than an oil spill.
