'Join The Dots' is the title track taken from TOY's forthcoming second album. 

The single edit - backed with an instrumental of the track - will be released as a limited edition 7" (300 copies) on 21st October 2013. Each copy will feature a screen-printed sleeve by artist David Chatton Barker (www.davidchattonbarker.com).

'Join The Dots', the album, will be released through Heavenly Recordings on Monday 9th December 2013.

It follows TOY's self-titled debut album which was released in September 2012, also recorded with Dan Carey in his South London studio.

This is a collaboration between Tess Parks & Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) which happened early in 2014 & the summer of 2014 in Berlin . As everyone hopefully knows about Anton Newcombe’s history we have decided to tell you more about Tess Parks.

A native of Toronto, Tess Parks moved to London, England at the age of seventeen where she briefly studied photography before dropping out and deciding to focus on music. Tess managed to make an impression on industry legend Alan McGee, founder of Creation Records, albeit the timing of their meeting could hardly have been less ideal; McGee was no longer involved in music and Tess was due to move back to Toronto. After moving back to her hometown in 2012, Tess formed a band on the advice of Alan McGee and less than a year after their meeting, he returned to music with his new label, 359 Music. Tess became one of his first six signings and released her debut record Blood Hot in November 2013 to excellent reviews. One reviewer described her as “Patti Smith on Quaaludes”. Others have mentioned her "gauzy psychedelic sound” and "smouldering voice”. Alan McGee himself said: “She’s only 24 and is already an amazing songwriter... she just doesn’t quite know she is yet … her most beautiful quality is her lack of ego. Tess is an amazing lady”.

In February 2014, she began recording with Brian Jonestown Massacre frontman Anton Newcombe in Berlin and they completed their new record 'I Declare Nothing' in autumn 2014. The record is due out later this year..

The lyrics paint a dismal picture of an all-too-familiar scenario for female musicians being mansplained after the show.

"Pack Animals is dedicated to all the men that have offered me unsolicited advice over the years”, Cash Savage says with a wry grin.

Over the past 6 years, the phenomenon of men approaching the women of the Last Drinks with advice prefaced by "The gig was great, but…” has become a running joke that’s not funny anymore for Cash Savage and her bandmates.

"I've been told the dumbest shit", Cash recalls. Examples: "You play guitar too rhythmically, let the drums do the work" or "You should put more waltzes in your set”.

Dumb, yes — but not harmless. “The givers of the opinions will eventually become offended and sometimes aggressive”, Cash warns, "if you don't hear them out.”

‘Pack Animals’ calls out this behaviour as a manifestation of toxic masculinity and how it affects everyone, regardless of gender. 

"We have all had moments in our lives where we've had to placate a man who is on the verge of becoming aggressive,” Cash notes. "It's not fun for anyone. I look forward to a time when shit behaviour is called out before it gets to that point.”

The song’s refrain “Everything's fine, everything's gonna be great” carries a heartfelt belief that a new day is dawning. "Some people are resisting this undercurrent of change because they feel threatened by it", Cash observes, "but I mean it when I say that the change is going to be for the better. I hope we're on our way there.”

‘Pack Animals’ follows searing single ‘Better Than That’, which Double J named Best New Music, noting: “Some songs just hit that little bit harder… The marriage equality survey hurt a lot of people in the LGBTQI community deeply, and Cash Savage was one of those people. In ‘Better Than That’, the first single from the forthcoming Cash Savage & The Last Drinks album Good Citizens, she tells us how. And she does it with such strength and vulnerability that it’ll take a cold heart not to appreciate it…. It’s stark, simple and something that everyone should hear, regardless of your politics.”

Having recently sold out The Corner in her hometown of Melbourne, and earning rave reviews for a packed-out Sydney show: “You'd be hard-pressed to find a more exhilarating and heart-swelling live band in this country” (The Music), Cash Savage and the Last Drinks are on a mighty roll.
