Joining us for Tapes #108 is Belgian based DJ and producer Innershades. Influenced by electronic body music, acid house, rude electro and nineties trance, Innershades’ raw yet wistful productions sound like what could be the OST to the golden age of Belgian club life. 

Even though Innershades’ music has stayed faithful to its core tenets, it nonetheless quickly outgrew these geographical and historical surroundings - and landed him spots on labels such as Time Passages, Cabaret Recordings, Cartulis Music, Clone Records and line-ups all over Europe and beyond.

We recently sat down with the multitalented artist to talk about her recent live debut at Club der Visionäre, from which she provided the live recording for our listening pleasures, her roots, her work and got her to share some advice for others who wanna start down a similar path. Ivan Smagghe is stepping up to take over Tapes #142. Known for his ability to play music like a raw conduit between famously obscure records whilst never losing sight of the dancefloor’s strobe soaked bodies - injecting something of himself seamlessly into the mix along the way. 

His genre defying/defining production from Black Strobe, It’s A Fine Line, Smagghe & Cross and now Ivan & Johnny has connected him to and garnered the praise from the likes of Craig Richards, Vladimir Ivkovic, Paranoid London, Solar and of course, his long time friend Andrew Weatherall - all fellow crusaders in the fight to prove that electronic music is so much more than a one dimensional soundtrack for a night on the lash, and so much more than an Instagram account.
