This is a poem I began writing in 2008. It has since been amended and refined, eventually also becoming a song. Here you hear me reciting it live, on Halloween 2022, as the rain comes down around me in Portland, Oregon, USA. Waxing about one of the dryer places on Earth, frpm one of the wettest.

This is an early bass tune. I had only been writing/recording/playing/singing for about 6 months when this tune happened. My beau at the time called it my "bass symphony". Extra, given that it's essentially a punk song, at least nearly as punk as I ever get... which is actually pretty true to the MO. Anyhow, I'm especially chuffed about this tune as I believe everything about it has stood the test of time. Certainly not something I can say about all of my earliest works! This tune has aged well, & I'm happy to have such a clean tape recording mix of it to work with. This take has pretty much stayed as it was, ripped from the cassette mix o' the moment that I harvested it from. With 4-track tape recording, you have to mix live, & I spent a lot of time doing different mixes & learning what worked best.

A song on my album, 'Cure for Tarantism', that acknowledges & hopefully honors & pleases the spirits who sometimes lurk quietly & sometimes announce themselves in various profound ways. Are they fleeting, or do they stick around? Be they pranksters, monsters, goblins... ghosts of family, friends.... Have they made my house their home? An energetic, danceable, heel-slapping tune that hearkens back to the times of my ancestors.

Dead at 16, she lives on through those of us who love her, & for me, she lives in every single thing of beauty I create. <3

Song built upon improvisations. 1997. Used a "haunted" 360 Systems keyboard, very odd, for example: the timpanis, which I found EXCELLENT, only sounded some of the time, and if memory serves, had no particular setting. I vowed to take advantage of them when I could, and this song resulted.
