Chris Douglas – aka OST, Dalglish, Aclds, Rook, Seaes, Amhain.. one of the most enigmatic and emotionally arresting producer/composers working today, Brought up in San Francisco, Douglas came of age during the early days of rave, organising underground parties that helped shape the Bay Area’s burgeoning electronic music scene. In ’92 he moved to Detroit, where he made formative musical and ethical connections with Mike Banks and James Stinson.  Since relocating to Berlin in 2003, Douglas has immersed himself in his work, creating and releasing a massive body of uncompromising, reality-bending tracks that collapse the lines between rhythm and abstraction, pushing listeners into strange and often beautiful new territories... This mix celebrates Douglas as a vital presence, exploring the possibilities of electronic music as a deeply personal & transformative force.

SDEM: aka tom knapp – Born in Hull, north east England,, a painter turned Dj / Producer, working in electronic audio since the late 90s. As well as playing live and making releases for SKAM, Seagrave, Opal Tapes, CPU etc, Tom worked for meds and icasea, labels that  both released work by Chris. This mix is a personal listening selection, tracing deep cuts across a range of zones and aliases…

The 20th episode of the Recovery Channel Outsiders residency. Celebrating this moment with a contribution by none other than Slowfoam. They've been following her moves for a while and are delighted to share this lush, deep and dreamy mix with you.

This episode feels like traversing through all stages of sleep, from vivid and almost visceral memories of holidays in a rainy tent, walks through gigantic forests and dewy fields in a valley filled with morning mist, to deep transformative loops of thoughts, dark shifting feelings and desires close but out of grasp. All to wake up to soft voices, bird shrieks perhaps on a beach.

Hi! I am Amelia Holt. I am from a small town in Mexico called Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas. I have been living in NY for six years and currently reside in Greenpoint. 

A fun fact about me is I love watching erotic thrillers films.

Favorite music collective atm?

I recently visited Brussels and I am really loving the Club De Tour parties organized by Louis Vogue and Soumaya. The space is wide; it feels like an abandoned parking garage. The lineup was beautifully mixed with a few familiar names but mostly new, so I enjoyed the feel and discovery aspect of the party. 

Describe the vibe of your ideal party? Space? Smell? Drinks? Anything you can think of ;)

Space: So, I have been dreaming about partying in a public library (“biblio-tech”). The space should be active during the day as a regular library and then after closing would transform into an experimental /visual/ dance space. Anyone who wants to enter biblio-tech can by using their public library card ;) 

Drinks: Anything alcoholic infused with herbs and teas to make it “healthier”  - plus the kombucha from Magik City.

Smell: It will smell like culture and history in the making ;-P

Advice to beginning djs?

Do the happy hours! Both Bossa Nova Civic Club and Jupiter Disco have great happy hours and it's a good place to practice getting your hands on equipment. 
Also, go into a rabbit hole of music discovery on YouTube. I find so much music just by clicking the next recommended track.

Describe the best dj/live set you have seen this year? 

2020 has barely begun but the DJ set that blew me away was Miss Jay. She knows how to read a crowd and mix dance with hip hop selections.

Most underrated artist at the moment?

Alien D - he just released a beautiful EP Sunday Painting, go check it out!

What is your prediction on the next music genre re-vamp 2020?

TRIP HOP please!

Describe the first moment where you had an epiphany about your love for music?

This has happened a few times, but perhaps the most inspiring time was at the Lost Soul x Sublimate boat party back in 2018. It was such an amazing location, a secret maze to get on the abandoned boat. The lineup was beautiful and the vibe, PLUS the sound of submerged vivid techno. I hope someone does something like that again. 

DJ dream of yours?

I want to build a DJ/ artist network that facilitates bookings and information between cities; a flow for people who don’t have agents and don’t know how to get booked.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

More funds and support from the established institutions that allow djs/ promoters to throw residencies & one off parties. It is not easy to sustain a musical lifestyle in New York, so I am hoping there is a positive change in that.

Next into the FH mix series is Mexican born New Yorker, Amelia Holt.  Amelia’s ability to weave her sets using an array of genres pulled from niche scenes has resulted in her name becoming synonymous with Brooklyn's underground club circuit. From brazen Latin sounds to delusional krautrock, Amelia's distinguished approach to selecting has led to a resident show on N10.AS, and sees her frequently guest on Lot Radio. 

This time around for the FH series, Amelia leans to her record bag to provide an eclectic mix that reflects her disposition throughout lockdown. In her own words... "This mix is one of the soundtracks to my isolation, it is a selection of dark experimental sounds weaved with a meditative touch that quickly dilutes to a whirlpool of penetrative intense rhythms".

Based in New York, Amelia Holt is a disc jockey and a collector with sophisticated taste. The way in which she pieces together a narrative through music is fascinating and this has perhaps been best showcased through a selection of mixtapes that's she's released online for the likes of Mitamine Lab and Knowing Something amongst others.

Her taste is far reaching and having spent time behind the counter of a record shop in New York she has amassed a wealth of knowledge. 

Recently Amelia launched a residency on Public Records' online radio and streaming platform Public Access on which she invites dj's to curate audiovisual material. It's a testimony to her own taste and her notion of curation.

There's a lot more to come from her but we'll let her tell you all about that for herself.

A hypnotic ride presented by Amelia Holt (@ameliaholt), Mexican born DJ, collector, and Brooklyn's Public Records resident. 

`I am currently enjoying the last weeks of summer in Upstate New York with my best friend and her family. I been taking it easy and planning some music projects for the next year and hopefully some traveling plans too.

I am also flying to Texas end of September to visit my family and spend the rest of 2020 there. Anyway, this mix is called Drive Thru, as it was made for the journey upstate. My favorite place to listen to music beyond the club is a car, since there are no limitations to how high you can pump up the volume.´
