I can spend way too much time trying to perfect songs. Which means I don't put many songs out there. To get more music "out there", I decided to adopt a "song in an]an hour" approach - Record it , mix it, and release it all in one hour. So the songs are short, but hopefully you will enjoy hearing snippets of what I've been working on (rather than waiting years for full songs).

For starters, I decided to start recording some of the arrangements of songs in open D tuning that I've been playing during the Covid Pandemic.

Another in the song-in-an-hour series, in open D tuning. This is a song I've been playing at church for a few years and I love, love, love the chords that open-D tuning allows in the chorus (around 40 seconds into the song and at the end). In fact those chords are the main reason I'm sharing this (they are that cool sounding!)

I managed to get all the way into the verse before I made a mistake, so I figured that this is good enough to share as a Demo version :-)

Home Is Where You Are (Demo Version)

A re-mixed version that was originally recorded back in 2014 - nothing re-recorded, just added stereo separation and some reverb. I think it spruces up the original recording nicely :-)

Come Thou Fount - Holy, Holy, Holy

When I first heard this tune in the 70's it was as a song titled "The Gift of Love". Later I learned it is a folk tune called "The River is Wide". Recently we've been singing it in church using the words from the Hymn "When I survey the Wondrous Cross". 
Whatever words you hear in your head when you listen, I hope you enjoy it!

We sang this song at Church this morning and I've been tinkering with a version in Open D tuning for over a year, so I got inspired to try a "Song-in-an-hour" version so I can share with everyone. Hope you like it!

I think this version sounds a little more "alive". What do you think? Comments are welcome as I'm considering re-mastering a lot of tunes with this new tool, but if nobody can hear any differences, then I'll have to re-think that plan :-)

The River is Wide (Memorial Day Re-Mix)

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you enjoy this "full" or "fleshed out" version that does much more than I can do with the live version I play on solo guitar. Someday I'll have to clean up all the messy parts (and I'm thinking I need to re-record all the guitar parts with a better mic), but till then, here's a peek into how I hear this song.

30 years ago I recorded this set of songs that I played when putting my children to sleep. Given the current Covid-19 crisis, I figured folks could use something relaxing to help them sleep at night.

Also, I've long planned to release this music for sale, but in response to Covid-19, you are free to download the files to listen to from the device of your choice. If you are moved by the music, donate some money to a charity that you like that's helping folks thru this crisis.
