Embrace Radio 17 (July 2025)

They say there are two certainties in life: death and taxes. Well, that and the fact that there is a new XI episode every 1st of the month at 10 in the morning. Although this month was a way bigger technical struggle than others to get the mix the way I wanted. I am really due for a holiday to reset and re-energize, and forcing creativity under these circumtances just doesn't work for me. I keep striving for some unreasonable perfection, and try to make every episode better than the last one. While wanting to improve yourself in principle is not a bad thing, I need to not lose track of what XI in essence is all about: digging for unknown songs and combining them into an eleven track showcase of everything I have enjoyed the past month, and enjoying the whole process from start to finish. I try to capture recent moods and expectations for the coming month, all the while keeping track of my progression as a DJ. And that not every mix ends up like a flawless diamond should not matter all that much. Sometimes I just need to refocus to get that straight. So here is your monthly certainty: eleven fresh tracks that hopefully deservedly will find their way into your streaming libraries. Now then, nothing left to do but to enjoy Dutch summer to the fullest; pull on a sweater, equip your raincoat and stare out of the window of the train while the drizzle trickles down. YOTTO - Odd One Out Radio #068

Autumn is always a time to slow down and reflect. Probably that is why I ended up making this a very introspective and emotional XI episode. October last year turned out to be the catalyst for everything that happened to me in the past 12 months and got me to where I am and who I am as a person today. It is weird listening back to last year's episode, because it transports me right back to the feelings and emotions of that time. It is also comforting to realise that even though I ended up going through one of the roughest patches I have experienced and at the time it all seemed meaningless and hopeless, in the end it all turned out alright. And life is funny like that. I am learning more and more to accept the things that are not in our control and to flow with the waves instead of swimming against them. To embrace the adventure in the uncertainty that lies ahead of us and to accept and love myself (that last one is the hardest). Having so many unique, amazing and loving people in my life that support me all the way, I can't help but feel super privileged. I am so incredibly proud to see all of you tuning in every month and to hear and read your lovely messages; I can't say this enough but it really means everything to me. IBIZA HIDEAWAY PARTY - Closing Fontana Festival 2025

I took my own advice from last month and went full nature mode for a little bit. Time away from screens and work, surrounded by mountains, trees and fresh air, just slowing down for a bit. It gave me the chance to reset, recharge and really think about what comes next. Stepping outside of the routine is never wasted time, it is what allows you to see things from a wider perspective.

Now that I’m back, I feel eager to dive into work again. At the same time, there are so many projects waiting that I don’t even know where to start. It’s quite overwhelming. I’ve always told myself: it’s not about tackling everything at once, but about taking small steps, one thing at a time, and trusting the rest will follow. Let’s see if I can take my own advice this time.

In the meantime, fall is arriving. Summer is amazing, but seasons always change, and personally, I don’t mind it. The shorter days, the colder air, the cozy atmosphere that seems to be everywhere. There’s something comforting about it, and I think that feeling made its way into this month’s episode too.

Maybe this mix can be a small reminder to take it step by step and enjoy what is, not what was. Hope you enjoy.

PS. next month is episode 100! And for that we will have a special episode. However, that does mean that the next episode will be uploaded little bit later than usual, but hopefully worth the wait 🔥
