8-track carries a heavy emotional weight beneath its seductive kick-drums, glistening snares, and perfectly synched 4/4 phrases. Its subtleties can feel hard to pin down, but what’s swimming beneath that gleaming production is the cathartic energy associated with overcoming trauma.

Klangkuenstler first made his debut on our SUM 5 VA with his massive track ‘Continuum’ and now returns for his first solo outing on Second State with two absolute bombs primed for decimating any dance floor they encounter. 

‘Razor’ kicks off the EP in a concept where fierce, rapid drums and 90’s inspired leads result in a nostalgic yet modern twist to a timeless idea. The title track ‘Dunkle Illusion’ initiates the B-side by utilizing an ominous acid line with sinister intent slithers between racing percussion creating an undeniably wicked atmosphere. Wrapping up the short player is Alignment’s remix of ‘Dunkle Illusion’ which sees the original reworked into a powerful display of devilish melodics while never losing the intensity and force of the original’s character. This EP perfectly blends Techno with Rave sounds, and there is no better way to welcome Klangkuenstler to the Second State family.

A testament to the growth of Adam Beyer’s scene-leading label, Drumcode annual A-Sides Vol.8 is the brand’s biggest yet.

The 25-track strong compilation features standout cuts Beyer has received over the last 12 months, but been unable to find room for in Drumcode’s regular release schedule, such is the volume and high standard of music that’s submitted.

The highlight-rich compilation includes Jamie Jones & Darius Syrossian’s buzzy Drumcode debut ‘Eyes of the Night’, Nicole Moudaber’s first DC release in 5 years with the mesmerizing ‘This Is Us’, Will Clarke’s bass-drenched re-work of Adam Beyer & Bart Skils ‘Your Mind’ and Joey Beltram’s first Drumcode release in 11 years with the retro-tinged ‘Can You Feel It’. 

The beloved Alan Fitzpatrick returns to the fold with the searing ‘Heiße Rakete’, alongside label mainstays Layton Giordani, who drops the stirring chord-driven ‘Chrome’ and Wehbba with ‘Mantra’, combining techno classicism with future-focused groove.

There’s a troupe of debutants donning the Drumcode jersey for the first time, including BEC, Shelley Johannson, Anthony Castaldo, Avision, Zimmz, Woo York, SAMA (in a terrific collaboration with Secret Cinema) and Ilija Djokovic, who delivers a shimmering highlight with ‘Aura’, a particular favourite of Beyer’s over the last year. Raxon also debuts on the label after a couple of quality additions to the Truesoul back catalogue.

Exciting young guns Weska and Juliet Fox bring heat to the compilation, while Veerus and Timmo follow up strong DC releases with a repeat dose. Elsewhere faithful contributors Ramon Tapia, Jay Lumen, Luca Agnelli, Marco Bailey and Mark Reeve craft powerful dancefloor weapons.

The 15th instalment of Diynamic Musics Four To The Floor series is here. By now they have become a go-to resource for DJs looking for dancefloor-oriented music as all tracks of the series have been heavily road tested and certified by label boss Solomun on his countless gigs all over the world, hence being great assets for peak time sets.

Opening the release is Dino Lennys I Lost Appetite, which is inspired by the classic 80s track Flying Turns from Crash Course in Science. The band gave their approval of Lennys production and are credited as co-writers to this nostalgic chaser. 

Following up is Hamburg-bred Doctor Dru, with his similarly eerie and 80s enthused Kloeppel, a deep dark disco house track.

The second half of the record begins with Roast by The Organism, a very synth heavy melodic techno tune that slowly builds a dark retro ambience with almost mathematical precision. And finally 1991 by Berlin-based Budakid, whose dreamy house pads give this edition of the FTTF series a very round finish.
