Ziemniak is an open collective formed during an artistic residency in September 2022 in Burlats, France.
We brought inspiration from performance and role playing. In this sense improvisation is a great part of the work. In this environment we created, visual scores are the most efficient form of notation, as they serve not only as a transcription of the music we create, but as a common ground in which we move and reference constantly during the performance. Concurrently we communicate through body and sound-making as the crucial point of the pieces.

V.E.R.SU.S. is an improvisation by Mitsa Chaida Michelakou(guitar) and Stefania D'Eri (trombone) recorded live in a cave shaped room in the Moulin Des Sitelles, Burlats (Tarn – Occitanie, France) with a telephone.

V.E.R.S.U.S. is based on an actual event : during a queer protest in Athens in 2018, riots threw glitter at riot police officers who, in order to get it off, started to move nervously and break down their integrity when confronted with a gesture that undermined their representation as extremely masculinised and power-holding forces.
The improvisation is based on a visual score that starts with the explosion of the smoke bombs at the beginning, the running and chasing game of the two factions, riots and cops, and the throwing of glitter, where the guitar plays the former and the trombone the latter.

What comes after an apocalypse? who survives it? how?

In light of 2020 ending, a lot of collective grief needed to be expressed.
So I went into my bunker, dreaming of what is to come.

To surpass, heal and learn, one must go through the dark and find new ways of living. There is not one way to do that. This is an attempt.

We will see, hear and feel.

CONDEEP

I am Mitsitron, an interdisciplinary sound artist from Greece, currently based in Rotterdam, NL. I have been shaped by heterogeneous soundscapes and active public spaces, austerity policies and forced categorizations, the deepness of grief and the urge to transform through it.

I am currently investigating queer methodologies for sound making. This comes from a need for affection with my body, instruments and soundwaves, the question of gender performativity in music performances, genres and cultures, and the urge for more authentic and horizontal connections initiated by sounds.
