Following a slew of new material amongst a celebratory summer, Axtone Records welcomes Swedish act, Gazlind to the catalogue with their remix of Deniz Koyu’s 2014 single, ‘To The Sun’. First debuted by Axwell /\ Ingrosso in an exclusive Miami mix, Gazlind’s rendition of ‘To The Sun’ focuses on the finer details, while cleverly incorporating Koyu’s original vocal.

With a debut remix of Swedish Grammy winner Seinabo Sey, and continuous support from Steve Angello you could say that Gazlind are off to an impressive start in their career, drawing the attention of dance music’s most influential artists. While not much is known about the act, it’s clear that Gazlind are certainly up to snuff when it comes to the studio.

With Deniz’s original having over 1 million Spotify streams, Axtone appropriately releases Gazlind’s take of ‘To The Sun’ on June 21st to commemorate Swedish Midsummer, the peak of the summer solstice.

Uncharted Waters is the debut release for antipodean wanderer, Bobby Boomerang, who is more commonly known as Cut Copy frontman Dan Whitford. 

Whitford has long held a fondness for the deeper reaches of dance music, having DJed an ecclectic mixture of house and disco and in Melbourne clubs some years before keyboards and guitars cross pollinated to bring Cut Copy into existence. And in some ways his first solo release is a musical homecoming. On ‘Uncharted Waters’ we find this Boomerang returning to it’s place of origin to explore his reinterpretations of balearic house and techno, generated by experiments with his menagerie of vintage drum machines, samplers and keyboards.

“Where Am I?” opens with the tranquil feel of a vacant shoreline, shaped by glassy synthesizers and distant vocals, before the mood turns, awakening the dance floor with towering jungle drums, acid blips and techno percussion. On the flipside is the title track ‘Uncharted Waters’, whose skittering woodblock percussion and deep analog sub bass sound leans towards the more melodic productions of Caribou and Four tet. 

Uncharted waters is the first of a series of releases for Bobby Boomerang, as this explorer embarks on his next musical journey.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (9th October) We welcome Reckonwrong in hour 2 and after hearing his new EP on the excellent Young Turks imprint Whities (which is out this month), we knew we had to get a mix from him. Tracks from the EP feature in the mix, including Radio Magic Tracks that also featured in Coldcut's Essential Mix on Radio 1. We also hear music from Sleep D, Marcel Dettman, Lee Gamble, Polyphonic Size and a couple of Trax classics from Dancer and Jungle Wonz. He had this to say;

"I wanted this mix to work as a concise introduction to what I'm about and the sorts of places my new record was coming from. 
Alongside some older cornerstones of inspiration it contains tracks from a bunch of my favourite contemporary artists who I think all nail in idiosyncratic ways the interaction of emotional and kinetic energies and the projection of vivid and distinctive atmospheric zones. Solid Steel in association with Serato (9th October) Iranian producer Ash Koosha is our guest in Hour 1, who gained a lot of attention from Pitchfork following his debit album GUUD released earlier this year. After being jailed in 2007 for putting on concerts in Iran, he moved to London and now produces beautiful and intricate electronic music and we're delighted to have a mix from him this week. He told us;

"The 60 minutes i put togher for Solid Steel is focused on the idea of Human vs Machine and the Machine as a Bio-mechanical entity, in other words the future "us". 
The idea of a Transhumanist world inspired me to mix from folky Bulgarian choir to the "Living-Machine" sounds of Leila Arab and Brood Ma. The engagement of classical music with the future of sound.
Putting the two poles together resulted in a new sonic spectrum where the value of frequency is above source of sound."

Solid Steel (10th March) We welcome Bristol producer Hodge to Solid Steel, who has released music on a fine selection of labels including Livity Sound, Punch Drunk, Berceuse Heroique, Hotline, Hemlock and Tempa. We're treated to a host of unreleased music from the likes of Ploy, Batu, Peverelist, Kowton and tracks from Perc, Planetary Assault Systems and a forthcoming Randomer track on L.I.E.S., plus some of his own productions. He said;
"I approached this mix the way I would a DJ set, one of the most exciting things about going out for me is to hear new music so I always try and incorporate that in my sets. This is an hour of mostly new, unreleased and forthcoming music plus a few old favourites that I'm really enjoying at the moment !  Oh and just sending off masters for a few releases to drop this year, finishing a couple of remixes and have DJ sets the next couple of months in : Basel / Berlin / Talouse / Barcelona / Greece and London on the 10th March in Brixton warming up at the Pinch and Adrian Sherwood album launch"
