Mittelschmerz (German: "middle pain") is a medical term for "ovulation pain" or "midcycle pain" which is experienced by many women.

It is a new, mainly electronic, music project by a composer based in Scotland whose gender, sexuality, relevant training and experience doesn’t matter. Nor does the person’s clothing size, relationship status, body shape, skin colour, favourite flavour or vices matter.

Musical references include Negativland, Laurie Anderson, Duke Ellington, Ann ODell  and more. 

The aim of the project is to re-frame conversations about the female body and power. Conversations arranged with original music deal with subjects like menstruation that usually don’t usually get airtime. It's also meant to be a bit of fun.  In the first single, the listener is introduced to 'pudanda' a word which, according to Urban Dictionary, signifies
 
"female genitals, also used to describe somthing that looks like the female genitals. Or somthing nasty looking."

The male voice on the track says:  "I look at this vagina and think to myself, 'why don't we just not have war?"

 But fear not. It's not all going to be about vaginas.
