So for me this set marked a clear change in the direction of the music at the time.  We went from the hectic and heady days of 92 rave to what was later to be termed Drum & Bass.  Again this is one of the first set that I would consider Drum & Bass. 

Anyway LTJ Bukem alongside Mc Ribbz was just a perfect combination and this set always takes me on a journey.

This is another one of those sets where LTJ just absolutely lays it down!  There's no MC on this recording too, so the beats just roll!

I remember at the time the term "Intelligent Jungle" was being thrown around and not really knowing the difference but fast forward 20 years and you can certainly hear it - it was very different to what most of the mainstream djs of the time were playing.

With Drum & Bass now firmly established as a worldwide thang, Bukem and Conrad took their unique sound on the road, no further than JAPAN!!  Up to this point I'd never even thought that DnB would ever become a UK wide thing let alone worldwide.

This set is peak Bukem and Conrad for me, we'd chase them all over the country to hear their sets and when this came out we pretty much wore the cd out (if that's possible).

For blog entry #022 Slaine has dropped us an ALL Ghost Snares mix. 

Birmingham based label Ghost snares focusses on the deep and techy side of dnb with an emphasis on atmospherics and rolling basslines. 

Founded by Slaine , Elkie and J-dok, Ghost snares was originally intended to be a clubnight with a label offshoot, however due to covid etc the label has developed more rapidly. 

As the name implies, Ghost snares are champions of the classic dnb sound, but also keen to experiment with where the genre can go in the future. With releases lined up every month throughout 2021 from Slaine, Elkie, J-Dok, Krow and more.

Slaine is a Drum and Bass DJ and producer from Birmingham who’s production style combines sci-fi soundscapes with rolling DnB, keeping one foot on the dancefloor at all times.

Slaine releases music regularly through various labels including Ghost Snares, Symmetry recordings, Nurtured Beatz, Regression Media, Skutta Records, Rawganics, Rotation UK, Atmomatix Records (Belgium), as well as releasing Producer Sample pack for Loopmasters in collaboration with Dread Recordings for their 'Artist series’’

This mix is a 50 minute exclusive showcase of tracks forthcoming on the Ghost Snares imprint mixed by Slaine.
