Imagine growing up near Berlin, getting into dance music, going to Berghain for the first time and getting your mind blown by techno. Then, ten years later, you become a resident DJ at the fabled club. Not many people—any people?—can claim this story, but for Fadi Mohem, what would be so many DJs' dreams became a reality. After getting his 2017 debut 12-inch Reckless in the hands of all the right people in Berlin, Mohem established a bold, bouncy techno sound with releases on Modeselektor's Seilscheibenpfeiler, Ben Klock's Klockworks and FJAAK's SPANDAU20, pretty much the cream of the crop of modern techno.

Now, this year, he's becoming one of Berghain's newest residents, alongside other exciting names like Sedef Adasï and Naty Seres (and Lakuti upstairs at Panorama Bar). As heard on his recent collaborative with Ben Klock, Mohem has modern techno down to a science, thanks to a combination of reverence for the old-school and clever rhythmic touches, like the irresistible snare pattern on "Prefix." His RA Podcast sounds like what you might expect from a new generation of Berghain resident: aerodynamic, heavy and, honestly a little midtempo compared to a lot of other young techno DJs. It's the sound the club has made world-famous, with cuts from Reeko, Heiko Laux and Truncate, plus some special moments from aya, DJ Deeon and Petar Dundov. It takes a certain kind of DJ to get to this hallowed place, and Fadi Mohem deserves it.

To relaunch his seminal imprint, Infrastructure New York, David Sumner aka Function presents his new 12", Green EP. Celebrating 27 years of Function releases this year and the label’s 25th anniversary, the label will serve as an outlet for his new material, reissues of out of print classics from Synewave, Sandwell District and Ostgut Ton (and of course, Infrastructure), as well as developing new artists and launching a long awaited Bandcamp page - exploring the annals of nearly three decades of the Function sound.
 
As a member of the Sandwell District collective, Function, from 2007 onward was instrumental in cultivating and ushering in a new sound of dark, cerebral hypnotica - forcing the hand of change in global techno. Green EP serves as a testament to this, further exploring these depths. The EP pays homage to the day when David arrived in Berlin with his green suitcase where his record “Isolation” on Sandwell District was released, hitting the ground running and spring boarding into an incredibly successful career, becoming a stalwart DJ/producer, after years as a struggling artist.
 
Green EP encapsulates the same raw power and hypnotic energy of his genre defining Sandwell District releases Isolation, Anticipation and Variance, updated with a modern flair. Subject f (Function) has clearly transcended, as expressed through the opening track “Initiation” arriving at his “New Designation”. On the b-side Function communicates his divine alignment through the broken beat, etheric “Aeternum (Meridian)”. Finally, Function closes Green EP with a live extraction of “Desire and Memory”, a brooding club stormer in contrast to the more experimental leanings of the original version, which appeared on Rrose’s label Eaux.
 
Next to releasing a new EP and restarting the label, an attached Bandcamp page and label webshop will be launched. These portals will in time see the release of previously out of stock releases as well as re-issues and unreleased Function material, next to new releases by other artists. No doubt fans will be excited!
 
One thing is clear: Function is back on track and more on form than ever!

Tatsuya Kanamori quickly became one of the few Japanese techno producers to rise to worldwide prominence within the late 90's techno scene with his productions and remixes as DJ Shufflemaster.
Originally a committed member of the Tokyo-based label Subvoice, where he released several of his early EPs, Kanamori's reputation outside of Japan was greatly aided by his affiliation with European techno heavyweights such as Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Ben Sims and Carl Lekebusch.

It was no surprise that Berlin-based Tresor knocked on the door and offered Kanamori the opportunity to record her first full-length album. In 2001, he appeared via Tresor, a full-length LP packed with a string of dancefloor-oriented techno productions featuring Kanamori's trademark aesthetic, making him one of the first Japanese techno producers to achieve worldwide recognition.

In The Club, the latest collaboration from Spanish producer TecHouzer and Mexican DJ Djahir Miranda, released on Crazy Nutz Music, represents a vibrant and refined statement of Tech House, crafted specifically for the club environment. TecHouzer, a veteran with over two decades in the electronic music scene, is known for his fresh and dancefloor-friendly style, boasting performances at iconic venues such as FABRIK, Groove, and Supercervecería de Radical in Madrid. His productions have featured on respected labels including Hotfingers, Klaphouse Records, Be One Records, and Tribal Kitchen, garnering support from established artists like UMEK, Fatima Hajji, DJ Oliver, and wAFF. Complementing this, Djahir Miranda, a seasoned Mexican producer and DJ with more than 18 years of experience, is distinguished by his accelerated style, deep basslines, percussive drops, and potent synthesizers. Initially influenced by Psytrance luminaries such as Astrix, Pixel, and Domestic, he expanded his horizons to Tech House, Minimal Techno, and Progressive Trance, releasing on labels like Hotfingers, Form Music, Taikkata Récords, and Matinée Music. The EP opens with In The Club, operating at a steady 128 BPM and set in the key of 1A. This track features a driving, dry, and precise kick drum that anchors the production, while crisp snares, clean hi-hats, and subtle tribal percussion weave a dynamic yet minimal groove that energizes without overwhelming. The bassline is fluid and warm, complementing the percussion perfectly. The female vocal repeatedly chants In The Club, treated with clarity and enveloping sound design, forming a hypnotic hook central to the tracks identity. Smart automation and modulation of percussive elements such as toms and rhythmic accents add subtle variations while maintaining a linear, DJ-friendly structure. The mix is clean and spacious with excellent stereo separation and controlled sidechain compression, allowing each element to breathe and contribute to the overall groove.
