Earlier this year Basic Rhythm (aka East Man, aka @hikteksound) released album ‘On The Threshold’ via @PlanetMuRecords. The neat 10-track outing explored the beauty in brutalism, and the colour in gloomy, angular rhythms – all written with DJs in mind.

Now, he’s back on the label with a banger of an EP which features this banger of a remix from Chi-Town footwork hero @RP_Boo. Across ‘2 Da Core’ Basic Rhythm supplies beats that are anything but basic as he weaves choice threads between hardcore, footwork and more. And on RP Boo’s ‘2 Da Core’ remix, the project’s title track is chopped into smithereens and rebuilt in the producer’s signature sonic palette. Which, if you didn’t know, means it's a hit in the making.
