That Mathias Kaden definitely knows how to put together a complete mix-cd, is clearly on display for the full-blooded DJ and house enthusiast with the 2011 compilation of the Groove CD number 40. For the 14th Watergate Compilation he bounds an edition with a key set on CD with timeless releases and evergreen classics united. These function just the same in the club on the banks of the Spree just as they would anywhere. Not least of all to thank are the three exclusive and unreleased tracks from Rodriguez Jr., Marco Resmann and Christian Burkhardt. Premiere: Mountainking 'Vacate'

Say the name ‘Chuckie’ to many and you’ll conjure up images of post-trance Dutch ravers militantly bouncing to reverb-soaked laser synths in a neon warehouse somewhere. And while there can be no doubt that Clyde Narain and his imprint Dirty Dutch have become synonymous with those big banger vibes over the last decade, a bit of detective work through his record box shows a producer/DJ with much more in his arsenal than tectonic electro-house.

“A hardcore Chuckie fan knows I'm always up for a surprise!” he told Mixmag. “But funnily enough people don't think it's weird when I produce a trap or hip hop track but can't see the link when I produce something more underground. I try to never aim for a specific genre. I just make music and sometimes it's something completely different than what people expect from me.“

And that could certainly be said of his latest track ‘Abu Dhabi Joint’, which is due out on Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich’s Desolat label later this year. Strictly deep, muted techno, this arpeggiated mid-set lurker is a far cry from what has come to define the producer, and follows his recent remix of Deadmau5's ‘Ghosts ‘N’ Stuff’ and the bouncy ‘Traphall EP‘ (with the aptly named Childsplay) in flaunting his creative diversity.

“You know, I wasn't even supposed to put out this record,” said Chuckie. “But I sent it to my friends Loco Dice and Nic Fanciulli and told them that ‘Abu Dhabi Joint’ was the outcome of this fun night we all had at Pacha Ibiza. I got a call from Loco right after he heard it and he told me about Desolat’s annual sampler and that the track would totally fit on that!”

But for fans of Dirty Dutch his upcoming release on Desolat doesn’t represent a shift in focus or an abrupt dip into underground techno. Chuckie remains committed to developing young artists on his label, throwing monster parties, and continuing to surprise you with curveball releases and massive cross-genre mashups.

Hailed as Cologne’s best kept secret, Tim Engelhardt is certainly stepping fully into the ring with this latest release for Poker Flat Recordings. 

This third outing on Steve Bug’s seminal label sees the man in inspired form.

The opener 'Thinking of You' is a more brooding number, slowly building via tense bass pulses, super tight percussion and sly chord progressions, before unveiling a killer melodic element midway through.

'Azimute' showcases Tim’s fine touch for dynamics within the context of the dancefloor. The track subtly shifts and mutates, using reverbs and delays to create a sense of space and grandeur - a classy, shimmering opener.

'Your Words Keep Me Safe' finds its groove immediately, tough and funky tech that exhibits some of Tim’s signature touches - a sense of drama and emotion that is missing from most electronic releases.

The fourth and final track - 'Energy Transfer' - builds from a beatless synth sequence, evolving and mutating into new and beautiful formations throughout the track. Once the beat drops you realise this will be a secret weapon for many adventurous DJs in the coming months.

Henry Saiz last EP on Suara was a great achievement for the label. We are in love with the Spanish artist's music. He already made some amazing tracks for us. Now we feel is the time for a remix package. Some of the coolest artist of the moment have revisited 'Dystopian' and 'Lucero del Alba' and they have bring the tracks to another level: Kris Davis did a delicate and deep mix, Few Nolder goes in a techno way  with a fat bassline and a great job with the high-end sounds. Moscoman takes 'Lucero del Alba' to his onirical world and Fabrizio Mamarella deliveres a dark italo-disco version of “Dystopian”. Huge package only for connaisseurs.
