Having spent 6 years hosting the UKG M1X Show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and more recently the Essential Garage Show on Ministry of Sound Radio, UKG legend DJ Q needs no introduction. Party Like Us is proud to present a record that runs the gamut from classic bassline to modern, deep-house-tinged garage, updating those classic Northern England vibes to something more rooted in today’s clubs.

The title track “Sound Boy Connection” is a thick bassline roller imbued with Robbie Rue’s baritone ragga vocals. “Heaven” takes a more sublime approach, a blend of sweet female attitude and hands-in-the-air pianos, while “Wreck It” rattles the bass bin like wobbly thunder. Finally, “Oh Yeah,” Q’s collaboration with AC Slater, is a banging bouncer of a tune that transplants UKG directly into the heart of Los Angeles.

Never standing still or dwelling on past successes, GURU are back once again, taking us down yet another un-trodden path with their new release from Tony Romera. The young but highly acclaimed French producer keeps the energy cranked but injects “All I Want” with bags of ghetto-funk to create a vibrant and unique club strut.
Snapping rhythms and shuffling drums get us underway before a huge rolling bassline powers its way into the mix alongside lyrically fluid vocals. The bassline provides the backbone of the entire track, laying down the relentless forward momentum and a heavy, 4am warehouse vibe. As it throngs forward with the weight of a jumbo jet, the bass catches the dancefloor up in a swirl of mechanics and FX that sends the track into overdrive. Hip-hop style vocals add real flavor and character to the tune, just as ominous tones in the background bring the intensity and sense of drama.
GURU’s last three releases have really highlighted the dexterity of the label, all pushing a totally different sound but maintaining that astonishingly high quality. Tony Romera’s “All I Want” is another example of how GURU consistently takes things to the next level.

The Huddersfield-born producer has dropped in a flexing little low slung weapon called 'Madness'. It's an altogether subtle effort that's significantly less wompy than the other tracks on the compilation, and would be a good one to drop when your crowd needs a rest from jacking furiously atop your wobbly basslines.

As one of the stand our emergents of 2018, it’s safe to say that Exeter’s @harrytremlett is hot on a lot of radars right now. We are thrilled to have him involved with the Bass Invaders project alongside hosting the long awaited release of his highly celebrated ‘Brain Food’ original. For us this one is an absolute corker, taking a more techy stripped back route in It’s composition, dipping between subtle sub bass LFO movements and lively synthesizer splashes alongside charming breaksy bridges and catchy high end percussive melodies. Harry has certainly gifted us with this one!

Originating from Leeds, Mikey B began his journey as a music producer in late 2008, creating his own brand of electronic music right from the get go. Mikey’s sound drew influence from an array of styles of electronic dance music, utilising elements from genres such as UK Garage, Bassline and House. Fast forward 11 years and Mikey B has amassed a global following and respect from A List names across the Bass & Garage scenes such as My Nu Leng, Matt Jam Lamont, DJ Q, Holy Goof, Zed Bias, Skepsis & loads more. This was summed up by Holy Goof adding his track ‘Wanna Be Me’ to FabricLive 97. Since then the last two years have accelerated at a startling rate for Mikey.

A consistent release schedule of self released material made up of both solo projects and collabs with the likes of Sammy Virji and label releases on the likes of Crucast (‘Back Around’ gaining 600k streams in 2019), paired with a stacked touring schedule performing at flagship Festivals including Glastonbury, Boomtown and Outlook as well as headline shows all over the UK and Europe has lead Mikey to become an indemand artist with around 50,000 Spotify listeners a month. These figures come as no surprise that Mikey is also gaining regular airplay and appearances across 1Xtra, Rinse FM and Kiss FM.

Sketchi made his 1Forty debut in January this year on 1FBSS003 with arguably one of the most atmospheric tracks the label has released to date - ‘Hands Together’. Sketchi gives a lot of thanks to fellow Bass artist, Mikey B. Growing up in the same area of Leeds a musical relationship was born thanks to their shared love for Bass & Grime music and Mikey has been teaching and mentoring Sketchi for some years now which has gone on to birth a number of collabs amassing half a million streams between them.
