A gloomy mood, mean drums and otherworldly keys, sounding like from the depths of 2000s.

It could have been a description of an authentic techno album, but the conversation is about a house release, from a producer who calls himself nothing but a «russian deep house visionary».

Having declared himself at the beginning of 2015, with one of the cult russian post-house albums, Nikita Villeneuve has gone underground for more than 5 years, time to time releasing rare singles and participating in western house compilations.

This release is his last album. The apotheosis of the whole path that he walked through in the Russian house movement and his final point.

DJ Swagger is a producer shrouded in mystery, but his alias, debut record’s title ‘Greatest Hits’ and its description of “A collection of gun shots & police sirens” emblazoned on the artwork indicates a playful character.

This attitude comes across in boisterous dancefloor construction ‘Return Of The Swagger’ on the A-side. Breakbeats have been a common fixture in Naturial Sciences’ output so far, and the trend continues here, with the aforementioned gunshot samples also put to good use. Above this fierce foundation floats dreamy pads and reverb-soaked vocal chops, giving the track an intoxicating edge.
