Confidential Recipe debuts on Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects with the deep, tracky techno of the ‘What You Think EP’. 

Heading straight to the club is the titular ‘What You Think’, with 909 kits pulsating alongside a variety of considered samples and visceral effects, followed by ‘Drill’, a pummeling yet subdued onslaught of FM tones and crisp hi-hats. 

‘Grain’ drives delayed vocal chops to the centre of the brain, as modulating synths flicker around relentless drum patterns. Hypnotic textures and smooth, fluttery pads take charge on ‘See You’ before ‘Body (Detroit Feeling Mix)’ adds a quirky flair to the release with its Dance Mania inspired samples, melody, and stabs.

Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave displays his knack for A&R by recruiting the Venezuela born, Colombia based Confidential Recipe, who has delivered a dose of high quality, heads-down techno artillery for the hard-hitting sister label to Rekids.

Tapefeed launches their new label Inveterate with a furious and forward-thinking 5-track EP that brings together the duo’s ethical beliefs with the energy of protest against an elitist society. This runs through every element of the project, musically and visually.

'The Archetypes' refers to the five archetypes of politicians: the joker, the technocrate, the messiah, the rebel and the outsider. It absolutely bangs on the dancefloor too. 

These are five tracks thumping with the power and spirit of resistance, bringing unrest and revolution to the heart of the dancefloor.

Interlock's first EP comes courtesy of All Trades, who turned heads last year when he won Special Request’s sample pack production competition. With a recent release on Shubzin and two Warehouse Rave releases round the corner, the Blackburn-born local now joins forces with the rest of the Interlock crew: brought together via Liverpool’s Melodic Distraction radio and the Altered Voltage parties.

His Xuigt EP lands listeners straight in the warehouse via some glitch in the matrix involving squeaking ballroom shoes and a cool-headed groove that just won’t quit. On the flip, it’s all about getting swept back into the broken techno fold: runaway perc and monolithic kick drums heckle each other on the B1, before the final showdown on B2 sees skittering jungle breaks go head to head with hardcore flavours.

As a first outing, the record’s got ‘teaser’ written all over it — snaking chameleonic threads of glitch, IDM, industrial and UK rave through a labyrinth of pure dancefloor power. Which direction is the label headed in? Whatever’s next, it’ll probably be fun, slick, and weirdly produced.

A limited run of 12” dubplates will be available to buy at the Interlock launch party event (w/ LCY & object blue) & digitally on Bandcamp on 5th November 2021.

Really proud to kick off a new season with a marvelous N2MU podcast by the incomparable Sean Birch a.k.a. @falsepersonaa. Despite his young age, this music lover has already become one of the main artists within the U.K. electronic scene and is making his own path internationally thanks to his productions on labels such as Acid Avengers or Atomic Alert, and his amazing sets. Mathias Kaden returns to Rekids with four-track EP ‘Control Your Mind’, featuring a remix from Marcel Dettmann.

Previously appearing on Rekids in 2019 with his ‘Liberate Drums’ EP, Mathias Kaden makes his second appearance on Radio Slave aka Matt Edwards’ label with four original tracks of razor sharp material, as well as a remix from Berghain resident Dettmann.

‘Control Your Mind’ opens with the impeccably produced title track, an electro flecked roller. Featuring hypnotic synth work and subtle automated inflections, the cut effortlessly glides, peppered with the occasional titular vocal refrain from Sven Väth puncturing the groove. Shifting into 4/4 territory is ‘Conviction’, a restrained but stunningly effective track that makes full use of memorable off-beat synth stabs and shimmering 909 percussion to constantly drive the track forward.

On the flip, Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann turns up the heat with his remix of ‘Control Your Mind’. Filtering the vocals, the MDR and BAD MANNERS boss also delivers a resonant bassline that works in tandem with knocking percussion, as creeping pads morph and evolve over the duration of the track, creating a trippy and propulsive banger.

Classic dub techno aesthetics are front and centre in ‘Substance’, a track destined for the golden hours between late at night and early in the morning, while finishing the package in fine style, the digital only ‘Anticipation’ showcases Kaden’s skill in crafting a killer peak time track, adding a welcome bonus of yet another weapon for USBs worldwide.
