"I recorded this mix at home on two old Mackie monitors, my DJM-600 which is like an antique and two XDJs. I wanted to play mostly new stuff and I felt like I wanted to represent my newer sound and what you’d expect from me in a club environment. It starts with the piano, and sort of progresses and ends with the four-by-four dubstep stuff, and then piano again with the half-time jungle bits."

"After a deep digging session with no particular style or aesthetic, I had so many tracks but completely different in style and BPM. It was a challenge to try to mix all of them in the same mix but in the end, I was jumping around in my studio! I really enjoyed going through so many different styles. "My mix for Mixmag is really a journey through different sounds that I love that inspire me. I’ve been buying a lot of records recently, and really diving into lots of different sonorities. So there’s a lot of vinyls, my friends’ edits, but it takes you from one space and brings you somewhere. It’s got a club feeling but also a mix that can be listened to and enjoyed. I think it shows my range of inspiration – there’s my friend’s Afro edit that’s amazing, there’s a more Latin-type ‘90s record, there’s some acid, some house, some funk and then ends on a euphoric piano vibe."

"I decided to dedicate this mix to ventures old and new: I've basically split it into two parts. The first half of the mix is a spotlight on all the artists affiliated with Cutcross whereas the second half of the mix teases some of the sounds and energy that you can expect via my new imprint, Club Confi:DANCE. As a whole the mix proves how diverse 140 can be and how different sounds can be woven in with dubstep to create an interesting and unexpected journey for the listener. And then right at the end I thought it would be fitting to throw in one of my favourite 'boss bitch' tracks from Remy Ma!"

"We wanted to tease our new album, but there are elements of new songs in there with new context combined with other tracks, mixing a lot of our own stems together. We stemmed everything out and started with that, there’s plenty of mash-ups and edits. We’ve been doing more production mixes recently and wanted it to feel like that. We set a pretty frantic pace, there are lots of quick transitions - I remember when we were making it we felt like we’d done loads, but it was only about 10 minutes in!"

"This mix epitomizes what I’ve been feeling lately: Playful, cheeky, nostalgic, yet contemporary. It’s basically what I’ve been trying to evoke in my shows as of late. Not the freshest records, but definitely the most fun set I’ve put together recently. I think a lot of times, and I get into my own head trying to impress others by having the freshest tracks that I lose sight of what I really should be doing with my DJ sets: have fun. It’s not always about having the most up-to-date or underground records that nobody has ever heard of all the time. I end up overthinking it so much that, by the end of the set, I’m deeply unhappy with it, but I can say without a doubt that I had a lot of fun putting this mix together."

"This mix in particular I had fun with. Recently I've been way back into late '90s and early 2000s techno, like, the good kind: obscure, leftfield — there was a lot of trash in that era honestly, where they were just looping a weird four bars that sounded all dusty and crusty. The point of this mix was I was taking influence from old skool mixtapes where you'd hear a techno artist on a CD do a dance mix, and it was straight up, boom boom boom, late '90s techno. But I wanted to mix it with more contemporary, bassy. UK-ish percussive stuff I've been into that I hear a lot of in New York. I was trying to mix those two, and I think I did a pretty good job. I've been DJing that a lot - weird late '90s techno into that sound - and it's been yielding really good results. I tried to encapsulate that in this mix and make it feel like a mixtape from the late '90s, but with new sounds — and there's a bunch of my music in there."

"This is a primal after-hours mix. It’s very percussive, drum-heavy, at-moments psychedelic and has some old Goa trance gems in there. I have been loving all the curiosity around trance music [lately], in particular the more psytrance and Goa trance stuff. My parents live in Goa and I’ve been going since I was eight years old. Every year, there’s a big multi-day psytrance festival there called Hill Top festival. Now I’m seeing the crossover of this iconic trance music and that makes me very interested in expressing that side of myself more in my music."

@masha-ny: "For this mix, I embraced a departure from my usual meticulous planning and opted for a crossover genre approach, infusing elements of acid house and techno. I really love acid house and acid techno but with this mix I didn't necessarily want to take tracks centered around the 303, instead going for bass, electro, percussive club, and jungle tunes that have a vibe reminiscent of acid house and techno. The result is the 'Queens Acid Run Mix'. After many hours of jamming with music that I had digged through for the last few months, I reached a point where I was locked in and I found myself immersed in its direction. Once I finished it, I went on the run around Queens listening to it :)"
