UK-born, Melbourne-based Hedchef creates the kind of sharp, off-kilter club constructions that disorientate and delight the dancefloor in equal measure.

Showing discipline to a militant ethos of pushing the envelope, futurism and point-blank rejection of nostalgia, irony and pastiche, Hedchef’s groove-based, breakdown-light arrangements align closer to classic techno and electro than dubstep or garage, whilst his razor-sharp sound design draws from influences closer to drum ‘n’ bass and the UK bass-driven music spectrum to add imaginative, gritty edges to the rolling flow.

Hedchef’s prolific back catalogue and wide-ranging DJ sets certainly tend to feature dark, heavy and abrasive sounds - but his approach to writing grooves, similarly to if they were guitar riffs or brass sections, brings an almost pop-adjacent catchiness that belies the leftfield, experimental nature of his rhythmic structures and warped sound palettes.

It’s this intricate musicianship which has seen Hedchef release on acclaimed labels including Scuffed Recordings in London, New York-based Worst Behaviour and Berlin’s International Chrome, with a stacked schedule of upcoming releases that continue the mission of expanding the boundaries of functional club tools.
These tracks can be heard in the sets of some of the world’s most venerated DJs and tastemakers, from Dave Clarke and Anastasia Kristensen to Detroit In Effect, Jensen Interceptor and Solid Blake.

Most recently, his collaborations with cross-genre wizard Doctor Jeep have been a staple in the international club circuit. Behind the decks, Hedchef has played his brand of technical, unorthodox techno at some of the world’s most prestigious clubs and events, from legendary London institution Unfold and Abyss in Shanghai to Sydney mainstay Club77.
Hedchef continues to keep the listener guessing whilst staying rooted firmly on the dancefloor, and his work unfalteringly develops in scope and ambition with each project.

Hot on the heels of the huge celebrative 10th anniversary compilation "X", Glaswegian independent label Bricolage label (@bricolage-g5) hits the ground running with an absolute titan of a release from legends of the electronic underground, Multiplex (@user-64321338).

Multiplex is the longstanding project of British electronic brothers Christian & Roland Dormon, renowned mainstays of the so-called 'second wave' of IDM scene since the late 90s, honing their craft over the years through a raft of albums and EPs on some great labels such as Piehead, Lom, Senton, Progerik and the seminal Toytronic.

Based on separate sides of the Atlantic, the brothers produce by sending music back and forward to each other from separate studios.
The “ Colour Kinetica” album has all the Multiplex hallmarks. Abrasive yet vibrant melodies, cyber basslines and elastic rhythms. They take the genre’s bleeps and bass elements and put them through their own audio grinder to create a unique brand of head-spinning electro.

Booking an eclectic roster of electronic talent, from techno to house and occasionally ambient the event now spreads its wings and descends on the well rested green fields of Glastonbury. Collaborating with ethical event organisers and accessories label Lovebullets our 15 hour day AM to AM closing party features Jamie Jones, Craig Richards, Lee Foss, Richy Ahmed, Rudimental, Discloure, Kidnap Kid and My Nu Leng. Shout-outs to Kubicle and Blackbutter. Staged within the impressively constructed, Lovebullets club house, interactive dancefloor walls and bars entirely constructed from reused bullets feature in the venue. Come rain or shine nothing can come in between this being the best weekender of the year.
