Indicia is an exciting Naarm/Melbourne DJ & producer responsible for an untapped brand of punk queerness. With a passion for music fostered in the most DIY of these respective spaces, his production is a refreshing blend of grit and self-aware 'trash' with more modern psy sensibilities.

'Effortless Desire', premiered here, harks back to Australia's early obsessions with 'blog house', big guitar riffs and indie-sleaze vocal samples. Put quite simply, this is a bop, and one pretty impossible to deny. Simple in its construction but intricate in its sound design, the track is an exciting marker of where a blossoming young producer is headed, and the point of difference they provide for Australia's broader 'sound'.

Of the track, Indicia shared:

"Effortless Desire is a song born directly from the queer dance floor. A place that, at its best, dissolves the ego and allows us access to the parts of ourselves we keep hidden in our everyday life. I am learning as I grow older how to act on instinct, without prejudgment, and it was this process of discovery, of constantly meeting and re-meeting myself, that I wanted to capture in this song. On an even deeper level, though, I just wanted it to be something fun for the club."

The first half of ‘Effortless Desire / Acid Rabbit’ is available now on Bandcamp pre-order. It releases officially this coming Tuesday, July 1st.
